Stella-Z

Based on user feedback, it sounds like it can be difficult to make the Stella-Z stay awake during the Define/Sync process but it should eventually complete if you continue to wake the module.

You will likely want to change the wake interval in the Device Settings sub-dialog. According to the Stella-Z manual it defaults to 7 days, which is impractical if you want to be able to remotely change the temperature setpoint or mode. We recommend trying a wake interval of every 4 (lowest allowed according to the manual) to 16 minutes. This will then be the interval or maximum delay for remotely changing setpoints / mode and receiving temperature updates. Note that removing the battery from the module appears to reset the wake interval back to 7 days, so be sure and reset to a more practical value after battery changes.

Indigo maps the following thermostat modes to what the Stella-Z supports:

  • Off → Frost Protection Mode (there is no real “off” mode for the Stella-Z)
  • Heat → Comfort Mode
  • Cool → Undefined (don't use)
  • Auto → Undefined (don't use)

There is no way currently to use Indigo to put it into the Energy Saving or Direct Control Modes. Energy Saving mode can be simulated by changing the setpoint values.

Based on feedback it sounds like the Stella-Z doesn't report very accurate battery levels.
