Absolutely. Here is my dedicated PBX Mini-ITX hardware and OS setup. Everything off the shelf, fanless, assemble it myself and use a free OS designed with Asterisk in mind. I've been running this HW/OS, Astlinux for many years.
I do have the MacMini running Asterisk as a backup in case this dedicated PBX goes down.
Here is the setup I have for the past 2 years and working perfectly:
- VoIp providers, wholesalers and they sale to residential as well:
---> I have 3 DID numbers with them, one in USA, one in Europe, one in Asia.
---> I pay a monthly for each DID and like 2 cents a minute. All is cheap
---> I do have two physical lines & phones so my wife and I can dial in meetings at the same time
- Operating System (Astlinux) designed for Asterisk and with Asterisk installed

ethanw, care to share a recommendation for asterisk hw/sw config for someone just getting started and looking for a good residential solution? i've looked into it in the past, but it is a somewhat intimidatingly complex and evolving solution space.
