Testers needed for iRed alternative for IRTrans Ethernet

Hi All,
I've been frustrated with instability of the last couple of releases of iRed2, so I've decided to do something about it. I've put together an alternative program that replaces some of the functionality iRed, and is created to specifically interact with Indigo. It's also much simplier to use -- really only two windows to work with. As shown below, the first is the list of your IR commands grouped by remote/device. The second is the setup window for each IR code. You'll note several built-in functions that trigger events in Indigo when an IR command is received. The program responds to applescript, so you can also trigger it to send IR codes from within Indigo.

Notes: My program communicates directly with the IRTrans over ethernet -- therefore my program will only work with the ethernert version of the IRTrans. Right now I am only supporting the use of a single IRTrans, but that should change in the future. And I'm currently only supporting the default IR code learning settings in the IRTrans.

The program works great in my initial testing, and I am looking for a few testers -- so PM me if you are interested. Again - this only works with the ethernet version of IRTrans - and you can't have both my program and iRed running at the same time. I'll plan to release it for testing later during this coming week.

Rick

Hi Rick,

This looks terrific. Please keep us posted on the progress of it. I have an Ethernet IRTrans in a box by my desk I need to hook up so I can try it out. :-)

Will do. I've just PMd those interested in testing it. Barring any big issues I've missed, I hope to add it to the User Contributions library in a couple of weeks. But, you know how it goes :D

In all honesty, I haven't had time recently to work on it. :(

It appears that the program is functioning well, but I have had a report of some networking issues that I'd like to track down prior to a more public release. Should be soon, though...

a couple of quick questions about the IRTrans-

Does the database have a large codeset, and can one import from Pronto database for instance?

Just trying to not have to relearn everything.

ricks, could you advise the exact model number of the unit you are recommending to work with your program?

thanks!

I'm just now getting ready to implement a couple of irTrans units. One ethernet and one wi-fi. Before getting lost in the weeds of iRed touch I'd love it if Rick's solution is viable. What is the status?

I would love to become a tester if your program would help me link Indigo to my SlingBox which happily transmits IR signals from my iPhone Slingbox App. I'd like to have Indigo driving my AV Kit through the SlingBox, which is sitting on the network along with my MacMini.

Currently I use a Pronto to drive my X10 and AV with an IR to X10 converter.

I'd like to add the increased control that Indigo has to offer!

I can already envision a number of use cases.

Adrian

The future is already here, the challenge is to find where!
