Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

Jay referred me to this tool. It is a lifesaver!

I DL the one you updated on dropbox (link in this forum). Once I disabled the interface and quit Indigo server completely it worked like a charm.

Running 10.7.2 and Indigo 5.0.2
I even have 99.5% success. Crazy good!

Note: Please update link from User Contribution page as apparently that one is out of date as of Lion and Indigo 5. If I had not gotten updated link from forum I would never have gotten it to work.

Thank you for writing this app...and keeping it updated. Really appreciate it.

Does this make any sense? lol

   Success rate:              24 / 1475  1.6%
Good, bad, total devices:  0, 59, 59            (good means >=95% reachable)
   Average RTT:               2.464

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

It probably means that Indigo was still connected to the Interface. On Lion, for some reason, the automatic interface disconnect is not working correctly. Just manually disconnect the interface from inside go Indigo, and then run the iHealth tool.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

iHealth UPDATE

v1.2 of the iHealth tool is now available in the Contributions Library.

This version fixes two recent problems with Lion and Indigo version 5. The Perl libraries are properly linked and the Indigo INSTEON interface is now correctly taken off line.

There are no feature changes, so if your current version of iHealth is working properly there is no need to upgrade until you switch to Lion and/or Indigo 5.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

I updated to Indigo 5.03 running on a PowerPC Mini with OS 10.5.8. I just downloaded the new version of iHealth, copied it over the old one in my application directory, restarted the Mini and now I can't get iHealth to run. If I show package contents and then run the iHealth executable in the MacOS directory I get the following output in a Terminal window:

Last login: Wed Feb 8 11:29:08 on ttys000
/Applications/iHealth.app/Contents/MacOS/iHealth ; exit;
indigosrv:~ owen$ /Applications/iHealth.app/Contents/MacOS/iHealth ; exit;
LSOpenFromURLSpec() failed with error -10661 for the file /Applications/iHealth.app/Contents/Resources/iHealth-list-devices.app.
logout

[Process completed]

The file referred to in the error line exists but when looked at in the Finder it has a circle with slash over it. Probably some kind of permission issue. Any ideas?

First thing, are you running the latest version of the iHealth tool posted last month?
Next, you say you just upgraded to 5.0.3. What version were you running previously?
Finally, the unwritable file sounds like a problem. Can you remove it? You may also want to run the Disk Utility and fix permissions.

Let me know if the last step helped, otherwise please post the information noted above.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

The version of iHealth that I just installed is 1.2. Prior to that I hadn't updated in quite awhile (I last used iHealth in September).

I was running Indigo 4.1.16 until I downloaded and installed 5.03 two days ago.

The unwritable file can be removed easily by just deleting the iHealth app which contains it. However, when I add iHealth back in it's the same story.

Running "repair permissions" and it's taking a long time in good ole Leopard. Long enough for me to check permission on the Applications folder and see they are a little strange: drwxr-xr-x+ 41 owen 501 1394 Feb 9 12:39 Applications

While "owen" is the only user account on the machine I think it's supposed to be "root" in this case with a group of "admin". I'll post again when the repair process finishes.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

Permission repair finally finished. It did not change the permissions on the Applications directory and attempting to run iHealth still fails.

I tried downloading a fresh copy of the file form the User Contribution page. Still fails.

I manually repaired the permission on the Applications folder and re-downloaded the iHealth again. Still fails.

Tried running it from outside the Applications folder. Still failed.

Grrrr.

I now suspect this may be a CPU issue (intel vs powerPC). The problem file is an AppleScript saved as an app. Still, very odd that it worked before you upgraded Indigo. PM me your email address and I will send you the AppleScript source and you can save it as an app on your system and replace the file in the distribution. That may work.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

You were correct: saving the new AppleScript as an app and replacing the one that was failing fixed the issue.

iHealth is working for me again.

Thanks!

I am having what appears to be the same issue: LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10810 for the file /Applications/iHealth.app.

I am running this on an original Mac Mini Core Duo.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

Great tool, thanks! I wish I was on a the 2413 before I did a bunch of electrical changes in my house to see how much of an improvement I made. I've been changing all kinds of bad wiring at my panel (whole other long story) and things just seem to be working better, but I don't have any measures to really show for it. I now have a 2413 though and ran iHealth so I can get a baseline to compare to down the road in case things change. If I'm reading it correctly, all of my current devices are looking really good...bunch more to add though and I'll be adding some dual band units too, will be interesting to see if it improves things even more.

Here's what I have so far:

Looks like I've got the same problem as odavis. I'm on an older G4 Mac Mini running 10.5. Could you please send me the AppleScript source so I can compile it locally? Thanks much.

In case there are others with the same issue, I have placed a copy of the script on Dropbox.

You will need to download the script, save it as an application and then use that to replace the script application that is distributed with the iHealth bundle.
