My 1.5 year old Venstar thermostat T1900 died and I just replaced with an Insteon thermostat 2441TH. I am having problems with the "energy setting". It seems to randomly pop on and off, which either adds or subtracts 4 degrees from my temperature setting. Not sure why. Very irritating because I set at 69 walk away, and an hour or two later, "energy" setting is on and thermostat set at 65. I see a log reading of Thermostat - Downstairs" heat setpoint changed to 65.0.
Does Indigo detect or can it send a signal to turn "energy" off or on, or change the setting so this mode changes set point by 0 degrees instead of 4 degrees. Per the manual for the 2441TH, there is a way with HouseLinc to change the "energy" button offset. Can Indigo do this?
To follow-up, I went to sleep at 1 AM with heat on and setpoint at 70 degrees . My log indicates the heat turning on and off with temperature between 68.5 and 69.5 until 2:26 AM (normal), but then suddenly at 2:26 AM I see the following:
- Code: Select all
Received INSTEON "Thermostat - Downstairs" on (button 2)
Received INSTEON "Thermostat - Downstairs" temperature changed to 68.5
Received INSTEON "Thermostat - Downstairs" off (button 2)
Received INSTEON "Thermostat - Downstairs" heat setpoint changed to 66.0
Received INSTEON "Thermostat - Downstairs" cool setpoint changed to 77.0
Received INSTEON "Thermostat - Downstairs" cool setpoint changed to 77.0
I speculate that the "energy" setting came on as heat setpoint dropped by 4 degrees and cool setpoint increased by 4 degrees. Temperature fell to 65 degrees by 4:27 AM, when the "energy" setting came back off (and setpoints changed back to where they were):
- Code: Select all
Feb 21, 2013 4:27:01 AM
Received INSTEON "Thermostat - Downstairs" on (button 2)
Received INSTEON "Thermostat - Downstairs" temperature changed to 65.0
Received INSTEON "Thermostat - Downstairs" heat setpoint changed to 70.0
Received INSTEON "Thermostat - Downstairs" cool setpoint changed to 73.0
Received INSTEON "Thermostat - Downstairs" humidity changed to 23.0
Received INSTEON "Thermostat - Downstairs" humidity changed to 22.0
What I do not know is if my thermostat is defective of if some power line or insteon interference is signaling the "energy" setting to kick in? Seems very odd as I don't even know if there is an insteon command to simulate "energy" on/off. Thoughts?
