 Insteon 2 Wire
I just installed an Insteon 2 wire dimming switch. All works fine from the switch but to have any control with Indigo it would seem I need to define and sync both the switch and the fixture module?
When the wall switch is turned on or off the light responds as it should but Indigo doesn't show the light as being on or off.Since the switch and the fixture module have different ID's I tried syncing them both as separate devices and can setup triggers etc. to get it working but am curious if this is really necessary?
When I have the wall switch defined Indigo does reflect if it's turned on or off from the switch. Turning the wall switch on or off from Indigo doesn't control the light though.
Seems odd. Is this how they normally work?
Thanks,
Carl

 Re: Insteon 2 Wire
That item is in fact 2 separate INSTEON devices - an In-lineLinc (the one in the fixture) and a SwitchLinc. The most important one is the InlineLinc since it's the one that actually controls the light. This dual-intelligence causes you to have to do a little more work.
As you noticed, when you operate the switch itself nothing happens - that's because when Indigo sends an ON command to the SwitchLinc, it will turn on it's load (which does nothing) that doesn't cause the switch to send the ON command to the InlineLinc. There are a couple of approaches to keeping them in sync when controlled from Indigo: control them both (turn them both to the same brightness in an action group), use an INSTEON scene to control them (which will set them both with the same command), or control only the InlineLinc and have a trigger that fires whenever the InlineLinc's brightness changes and that sets the brightness of the switch to be the same.

 Re: Insteon 2 Wire
Thanks Jay. Didn't realize they were treated as separate devices when I was installing. Got it all working great....thanks to an amazing app called Indigo.
