 Re: DSC Alarm Plugin
I'm getting errors when I start the DSC plugin. I'm using IT-100 and a prolific usb-to-serial adapter. When I start the plugin I get the following errors. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Enabling plugin "DSC Alarm 1.0.0" Starting plugin "DSC Alarm 1.0.0" (pid 7710) Plugin "DSC Alarm" connected Plugin "DSC Alarm 1.0.0" started DSC Alarm Initializing communication on port /dev/cu.usbserial

DSC Alarm Error plugin runConcurrentThread function returned or failed; will attempt again in 10 seconds
Any help would be very much appreciated.

It looks like there is no communication with the it-100. The it-100 blinks steadily indicating it is communicating with the panel. I ordered different usb-to-serial adapters and will try with them.

Ok. After changing to a different usb to serial everything is working.

 Re: DSC Alarm Plugin
How do I add sensors as smoke, heat, water and carbon monoxide sensors (all DSC native)? There only seems to be option for door, window and motion.

 Re: DSC Alarm Plugin
I was also experiencing a flaky connection on both the DSC and Jandy pool plugins, I broke down and bought one of the Keyspan adapters that everybody recommends and the plugins are a lot more reliable.
I suspect that somebody could delve into the depths of python and the serial port code and fix this, but it was no effort to spend the $100 on a 4 port serial adapter, and I'd rather people were making more plugins instead of fixing python.

Doubtful. USB devices that are essentially serial communication devices are extremely finicky when it comes USB. That's why we recommend that interfaces be plugged directly into a USB port on the Mac rather than a USB hub. I think the real issue is flakey drivers. The FTDI drivers as well as the Keyspan drivers have so far been very reliable.

 Re: DSC Alarm Plugin
Another beta has been posted. Just a few minor changes to try to fix some errors some users are experiencing with the 2DS support. It can be downloaded from the main post. peszko wrote:How do I add sensors as smoke, heat, water and carbon monoxide sensors (all DSC native)? That feature isn't used yet. If I can figure out something to do with the different categories of sensors I'll add more, otherwise I may just take it out all together.

 Re: DSC Alarm Plugin
Travis, I appreciate everything you've done with this plugin. I'm a newbie to home automation and Indigo and I can't seem to get this setup. I had my alarm guy install the Envisalink 2DS on the DSC alarm panel. I connected it to the computer via 50 feet of Cat-5 cable. I connected the ethernet cable into one of the open ports on my Airport Extreme base station. I followed your very thorough write up in setting up the Alarm Keypad and Action groups to arm and disarm the alarm system. Trouble is, I can't get the alarm to do anything through Indigo. I'm not even sure the computer is talking to the 2DS nor do I know how to check if it is.
If you can, please give me some information so I can try to fix the problem. And please be gentle on my ignorant soul!
Thanks in advance!
Chad

 Re: DSC Alarm Plugin
Hey Chad, What does your Indigo log say when the DSC Alarm plugin starts up and tries to connect to the 2DS? Have you confirmed you can access the 2DS by visiting http://envisalink/ in your browser?

 Re: DSC Alarm Plugin
And to add, if the URL "http://envisalink" doesn't work ( it didn't for me ), log into the router and determine what the IP is of the 2DS and make sure you can connect directly to the 2DS with a web browser and log in to the 2DS with the username "user" and password "user" as default - if you didn't log in via a browser and set that up first, I'd recommend ensuring that works, then you'll need the user/pswd for Travis' plugin later on.
Good luck!

 Re: DSC Alarm Plugin
I'll try later on when I get home. One of the things I couldn't figure out on the Mac was how to find the IP address. If anyone has suggestions I would appreciate it.

 Re: DSC Alarm Plugin
You can access this in the Airport Utility > Manual Setup > Advanced > Logs and Statistics > DHCP Clients
Don't have it in front of me to check, but that should get you close.

 Re: DSC Alarm Plugin
I've been trying to find it for an hour now. It appears that Airport utility 6.0 does not have the options you are talking about. Is there a way to lookup the IP for envisalink through the terminal?

Enabling plugin "DSC Alarm 1.0.5" Starting plugin "DSC Alarm 1.0.5" (pid 4515) Plugin "DSC Alarm" connected Plugin "DSC Alarm 1.0.5" started
This is what the log returns when enabling the DSC plugin.

 Re: DSC Alarm Plugin
office:~ chadandmattie$ nslookup envisalink Server: 192.168.254.254 Address: 192.168.254.254#53
Non-authoritative answer: Name: envisalink.Home Address: 66.152.109.60 Name: envisalink.Home Address: 184.106.31.186 Name: envisalink.Home Address: 204.232.162.155
I got this from terminal but none of the IP addresses return anything except for the first one, it is my ISP router. I use my Airport Extreme for Wifi and have the Envisalink installed on the Airport.
