Post AD2USB Plugin for Indigo 5 / Honeywell Alarms
All,

I was forced (when my VistaICM hardware failed last night!) to quickly write this integration. It's a ROUGH FIRST PASS, but it works - so I thought I'd share it with the community.

You can download it from my blog - http://www.alistairs.net/category/indigo-plugins/ad2usb/

Let me know how you get on :)

Are you planning on adding support for remote AD2USBs via TCP? (I use ser2sock)?

Also, the instructions say to create a panel, but in the dialog I only see options for a USB Keypad or an Alarm Zone. Is creating a "panel" equivalent to creating the keypad?

Yeah - the instructions were rough, sorry. Create a keypad ("panel" - I should change that). I don't have IP hardware to develop / test against.... feel free to update the first pass at the code if you like? It's nowhere near "finished"....

What else does the plugin do in addition to turning on and off the alarm and showing the state? Can one set up variables to monitor wired and wireless zones, and execute triggers from their changes? I had asked if you could post a screen shot on the other thread--If you have a moment and could do so, it would be very helpful to see the functionality you've implemented. The variable list, triggers etc would be informative.

Also, I have a a second panel in the garage which is accessible from the first via a code sequence. Can that be built in to the plugin?

Very much appreciate your effort!

In theory, you should no longer need to use variables, a plugin has the ability to maintain the state of each zone as well as the panel. If I understand alistair's model, in the case of his plugin, you would define a "device" for each zone in your alarm system you were interested in monitoring. Then, you should be able to define a trigger to watch fa device (zone) to be faulted (On) or cleared (Off) or just any change in state, just as you do with an Insteon device today.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to test alistair's work because my ad2usb is remote from my Indigo Mac. My ad2usb is actually connected to a FreeBSD server in my cellar and I connect to it using TCP. I may get around to adding TCP support to his work, but it might be a while.

Note: Announcements and discussion of the ad2usb plugin I have been developing have been moved to this thread in the
3rd Party Developers forum.
