Post Removing a phantom link from a ToggleLinc
I've been having communication issues with a particular ToggleLinc over the last few weeks. I've been adding a lot of devices to my system, but all have synced on the first try and have been working without issues. The problem appears to be isolated to this one device. If I turn it on and off a few times and will eventually get a 'no ack' error. Here is the exact error from the log:

Code: Select all

It's just a front porch light, so it's not the end of the world, but I'd like to resolve the issue if possible. I've unlinked the device, air-gapped it, factory reset it.. but to no avail. The issue keeps resurfacing. I took a look at the links in Indigo for that particular device and noticed a link to an 'unknown' device which I am unable to remove. I've attached a screen grab of the link editor for that device. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

As I mentioned, all other devices are functioning normally and I have 2 AP's (dual band LampLincs) in place, so I don't think interference or signal strength are an issue.

I'll be placing a new order with machomestore once they have the new OutletLinc Dimmers in stock. I'll likely just grab another ToggleLinc and this one out, just to determine if the device itself is defective.

Try the factory reset air-gap technique again, then re-Define and Sync it in Indigo. After you do that, is the mystery link still there? If so, copy/paste the Event Log showing the Define and Sync.

Also note if you hold down the OPTION key while bringing up the link editor dialog Indigo will let you try to delete that link. So try that if the factory reset doesn't get rid of it. Then after you delete and sync from the link editor, go back to the device dialog and re sync all of the links for the device and finally go back into the link editor again to see if the mystery link reappeared.

Thanks Matt! I'll try that out when I get home tonight :) I'll be sure to post the outcome!

I tried the 'hold down the option key' method you suggested and I was able to remove the link. However and unknown controller link is now showing up. I'll have to try the air-gap method when I get home (can't do that one over the network :)). Considering that the host machine is running Lion, I may also update to the 64-bit FTDI driver just for funsies.

here's what the link manager for that device looks like now (with the option key held down):
