yup, it uses AS, should work fine. (caveat, I will not be able to test for a while since I am away from my home for an extended period.)

I have a 2413 and get nothing in the report. It would be nice to have this tool since I am having issues connecting to a switch and IO link. I am using v5.

I have this working now. You really have to make sure that Indigo is completely off otherwise you either get no results or the results report all bad.

Thanks

Can KeypadLincs be added to this tool? the KPL in my bedroom controls a receptacle which the main bedroom lamp is plugged into.

This topic's title indicates that there is an "...Insteon Health Test Tool app now available..."

If that is true, can you share a link to it? I can't find it on your support site.

I've had no success with Insteon control from Indigo with the PLM and devices on another phase, despite the use of a the LampLinc (which is supposed to be dual band, like my PLM) on the second power line phase.

Norm sent me an Insteon 2443 dual band access point and I've used the sync instructions from Smart Labs to link the PLM and the access point and the sequence completed successfully, at least according to the instructions. I can't find any indication within Indigo that this new access point device has been recognized. I tried entering the 6 digit Insteon device (MAC-like) code and Indigo still failed to recognize it. Should it not 'see' the 2443?

Did you look at the first post in this topic? :roll:

Indigo does not directly see (nor does it need to see) an AccessPoint. If your LampLinc is dual-band, and the AccessPoint is on the other power leg you will see the LEDs blinking whenever there is traffic (Insteon messages). It sounds like either: you have not linked the AccessPoint and the LampLinc; or, the AccessPoint and LampLinc are on the same leg; or, the LampLinc is not the newer Dual-Band model (2457D2).

Or there's significant signal noise on the opposite phase (perhaps the one with the LL on it) so while the bridging worked the signals are getting sucked. Check out the signal troubleshooting page for common causes and solutions to signal issues.

I unplugged everything on both the PLM and the LampLinc circuits, any computers, UPSs, computers, sat receivers, small appliances and I was never able to use the LampLinc on any outlet on any circuit on the phase opposite the phase that the PLM was on.

I know you guys analyzed the logs and it appeared to be a noise problem, but I could never isolate it and this is the first time I was able to use ANY home control I tried on this particular circuit.

I'm going to monitor this installation and if it fails, it's back to the beginning, however, I at least confirm that I can use Insteon in my home in some way and I'm going to continue to deploy it.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. :D

Actually, I scrolled back a couple of pages, but I stopped before I got to the first post. My bad, but I assumed it would be available from the Perceptive home page.

Indigo does not directly see (nor does it need to see) an AccessPoint. If your LampLinc is dual-band, and the AccessPoint is on the other power leg you will see the LEDs blinking whenever there is traffic (Insteon messages). It sounds like either: you have not linked the AccessPoint and the LampLinc; or, the AccessPoint and LampLinc are on the same leg; or, the LampLinc is not the newer Dual-Band model (2457D2).[/quote]

So I discovered when I successfully linked the PLM with the access point. Regardless, I expected the LampLinc to have been able to operate over the 50-odd feet from the PLM, via the Insteon RF. FYI, the devices were not on the same powerline phase. When they were, the Lamplinc worked via Insteon carrier current (power line). My application had them on opposite sides of the line.

If spending the extra $40 with Norm remedies the problem, I'm OK with that. Indigo/Insteon has been a learning curve thing with me. I was quite accustomed to the idiosyncrasies of X10.

Note - this is a user contribution (see the forum section title), not a tool from us (Perceptive Automation) - which is why you won't find it on our home page. We do host a User Contribution Library, which contains a bunch of useful user contributions (including this one), and that's linked from the home page.

Thank you.

Yes, I did figure out that this was a user contributed AppleScript when I located the link, however that was contrary to my original assumption. I'm not certain why I wasn't able to guess that from elsewhere in the thread. I guess I'm not blessed with the normal level of clairvoyance. :oops:

The Perl module Device::SerialPort is not installed on your system, and for some reason it was not found in the Insteon Health Test Tool bundle.

Which MacOS version are you running, and, has the iHealth tool worked on this system before?

@kpfriedberg

I made a small change and have placed a test copy of the iHealth app on dropbox

Give it a try and let me know what happens.

I tried your revised download and didn't get any better results. I did find a solution that worked for me. I run OSX Lion and what I see differently is that there is simply a newer version of Perl that is running - for me it is v5.12.3 to be exact. I don't know much about Perl, but what I see happening is that it tries to automatically load the appropriate SerialPort bundle depending on the version of Perl running.

So I opened a terminal:
1. changed directories to iHealth.app/Contents/Resources/CPAN/arch
2. copied the 5.10.0 directory to 5.12.3 --> cp -pr 5.10.0 5.12.3

And all is well!
