Re: Smartphone Radar - Smartphone presence detection (Update
I've updated the plugin with lots more functionality: - Smartphones are now devices so there is no limit to how many you can monitor. - Each device has Home, Away, and On Vacation states that can be used to trigger events. - There are global events that trigger when ALL the phones are Home, Away, or On Vacation. - Variables can be automatically created and used as conditions for other triggers or schedules. See the original post for more details. http://www.perceptiveautomation.com/userforum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=6876Enjoy

Re: Smartphone Radar - Smartphone presence detection (Update
Works great with the TimeCapsule! I followed lharris9's instructions on the main post for using port 514 and then used the MAC address for each of our iPhones (IP address didn't work). One question, Smartphone Radar created the AllPhonesAway, Home and Vacation variables, but not individual variables for each iPhone as in the picture. Is it supposed to do that by itself? Very cool plugin!! Thanks Travis!

Re: Smartphone Radar - Smartphone presence detection (Update
Hmmm. Yes the variables should be created automatically. The issue might be because it currently only makes variables when the config is changed or the plugin is started. Try opening the "Configure Smartphone Radar" page and then pressing Save, you don't have to make any changes. That should force the config to update and hopefully the variables will be created.
What debug level are you using on your Time Capsule for the syslog?
Thanks for the update. Glad you like it!

Re: Smartphone Radar - Smartphone presence detection (Update
Thanks, hitting "Save" created the missing variables.
I'm using level "5 - Notice." Using MAC address is completely fine by me and means I don't have to remember to configure the router to reserve the DHCP spots when we get new phones, just update the MAC in SmartPhone Radar.

This issue has been fixed in the new version 0.9.1. I'm using level "5 - Notice." Using MAC address is completely fine by me and means I don't have to remember to configure the router to reserve the DHCP spots when we get new phones, just update the MAC in SmartPhone Radar.
I'll add that info to the main post so others will know. Thanks.

 AEBS and SmartPhone Radar
I thought I set up logging correctly on my Airport Extreme BS. I uncommented the lines in syslogd and believe I executed the terminal stuff OK. I have two variables shown in the device box, last seen and state. The other variables were correctly placed in the Variable List. ** Edit ** I repaired permissions and restarted the macmini. Now both phones are registered as "Away", even though mine is currently home and on the network. After enabling logging on SPR, I get the following lines: - Code: Select all

 Re: AEBS and SmartPhone Radar
It doesn't look like you are getting anything from the AirPort Extreme yet. I will share my configuration here. Maybe it will help. I configured my AirPort Extreme to do "Syslog Level: 5 - Notice". In /etc/syslog.conf I added two lines. The first makes a log file on my iMac and the second forwards to port 1514 for Smartphone Radar. I found it useful to have the log file in /var/log for troubleshooting. I can verify that the AirPort Extreme is indeed outputting information at that point. The configuration I am using only forwards the AirPort Extreme logs to Smartphone Radar so it is not cluttered with all the Mac OS X logs. - Code: Select all
# to log airport extreme local0.notice /var/log/airport.log local0.notice @127.0.0.1:1514
I created the /var/log/airport.log file like this: - Code: Select all
sudo touch /var/log/airport.log
I then restarted syslog with launchctl like this: - Code: Select all
sudo launchctl stop com.apple.syslogd This configuration worked for me. I had to restart Indigo a couple times to make it all work. Maybe if you make a /var/log/airport.log file you can make sure the AirPort Extreme to Mac part is working. PS: I got all this working but then did not use it because I use the AirPort Extreme for an access point only, not a router. All the AirPort was giving me was wireless association information that was not enough to know if the iPhones were home or not.

Re: Smartphone Radar - Smartphone presence detection (Update
Ham - please keep conversations about specific plugins in their respective thread.
The error you're seeing about the XSLT tools is from the AppleScript component - you have that OSAX installed somewhere and it doesn't run on Intel systems - it's just a warning and doesn't mean anything.

Thanks, Jay. I was just trying to respect Travis' wishes in keeping router specific questions out of the thread. Is it simple to get rid of the XSLT warning by updating it? Re the AEBS configuration, here's where we are so far. I followed loafbread's recommendations. SBR doesn't seem to be getting the log info yet. --AEBS is set to Syslog level 5, notification.

Re: Smartphone Radar - Smartphone presence detection (Update
hamw, Try putting the syslog lines at the bottom of the syslog.conf file. I don't know if it matters but mine are at the bottom. Restart syslog again after moving them. You shouldn't be seeing all those system messages in Indigo. I assume you are running Snow Leopard like I am?
Move to bottom of syslog.conf file.

I don't believe it's been updated to work on Intel boxes - but given that you can't be using it in anything anyway I'd just dump it.

Moved the Syslog files: Last login: Sun Jun 12 18:33:54 on ttys000 Mac-mini:~ WilliamsEC$ sudo vi /etc/syslog.conf Password:
