Post New to Indigo/Insteon. Lots of questions.
I am not new to home automation as my x10/homeseer system has been up and running for 17 years. The house was wired with 35 modules in electrical room where I have a dedicated computer running/controlling. That being said, the computer is getting old as is the software and I have migrated to Mac and I want the better reliability of the insteon transmissions.

The biggest problem I seem to have is after a power failure some of the x10 modules go to full bright and remain there as they have been unprogrammed somehow. I hope this is not the case with the insteon modules??? Next on the list is the sometimes inconsistant signal reception which I assume the insteon system will cure entirely. I have to admit it was not bad at all but bothersome non the less.

New system consists of Indigo pro, dedicated macmini and I will be switching over to insteon plug in modules to replace the x10 modules. Commands are sent via A Powerlinc dual band 2413U

Many of the switches in the house are the leviton 4 button with dim command like this. http://www.smarthome.com/4210R/Leviton- ... ase/p.aspx . What type of Insteon can I replace these with? I have no less than 15 of these throughout the house and it will get a little pricey to replace them all. I realise the leviton will work as is so most likely will only go for a few of the insteon keypads you recommend.

Any recommendation/advice on setup/installation is greatly appreciated, Thanks.

I think you'll find the INSTEON modules are better about not going to 100% after a power failure. I believe that several years ago some firmware versions had issues, but I think the ones on the market today will either resume their previous brightness level or default to OFF after a power failure.

For INSTEON multiple button in-wall modules your only choice is really the KeypadLinc. It comes in either a dimmable version or a relay version for the main load.

I think the only gotcha to watch out for is the PowerLincs are not as good at sending some X10 dim/brighten commands as say the CM11. They send ON/OFF commands fine, and preset dim commands work, but extended dim commands and the generic dim/brighten commands don't work as well. If that turns out to be an issue, then you'll probably want to upgrade the X10 modules to INSTEON that are in locations where dimming is critical first.
