 Best wired (Cat6 ethernet) thermostats?
Hi all, I'm completely new to the home automation community, so thanks in advance for any help. We are completing a major home remodel and the walls are still open. I figured I might as well use a wired thermostat. I don't want anything crazy fancy or expensive. The house is only 1,400 sqft. Can someone suggest an appropriate wired thermostat?

Take a look at Proliphix. With a little coding they integrate nicely with Indigo (though not as tightly as the Venstar). But, they are pricey. Also, in my opinion, based on owning two Proliphix tstats and following their discussion group, and also tracking the Venstar postings here on the Indigo forums, I'd say the Proliphix products were a lot more reliable than the Venstar+Inseton route.

Keep in mind, I haven't heard any feedback from anyone using the new integrated Venstar / Insteon adapter. The newest version has the adapter built-into the Venstar unit... So, I'm curious to hear any feedback from anyone to see if that seems to be any better speed / reliability wise.

Re: Best wired (Cat6 ethernet) thermostats?
The new (Model 4715 7 Day Thermostat) may be hard to buy. According to SmartLabs ...SMART products ... include advanced, highly customized features that are available only to the dealer/installer. Most of these SMART products seem identical the existing Insteon products available from SmartHome and others. Does anyone know what these highly customized features are? BTW, For Venstar tstat owners, I found this interesting article [HOW-TO] Install Your Insteon Wireless Thermostat Module Internally.

Yeah, it looks like the Proliphix NT10e is the best seller (according to Smarthome) so I think I'll go that route. Thanks for the info guys!

While you are waiting for your new tstat you might want to take a look at the Proliphix Query Script in the User Contribution Library. There are also other scripts available (including one I put together that can override the tstat settings based on local temperatures), just search the forums for Proliphix.
