Post Re: Can no longer connect on local network with Bonjour
FYI< I tried changing the default port to 777 in indigo 4. still it will not connect using mbp. so its not because the port is being blocked. To avoid you asking questions I may have answered or tested . I confirm I tested it USING VARIOUS IP.

jimmyspro.local
10.0.1.10:8176

and 10.0.1.10:777

and my dyns address, with and with out changing the port. or adding the port to ip.

I also ran these tests on another mac running safari connected to the same network.

All tests end up in seeing the bonjour server but not being able to connect. when I use my ,acs ip and indigo server port it also will not connect.

There must be another issue causing the problem...! Its a realy shame as if I get the system up and runnng well. I was going to have it implemented at work. Thing is it must be reliable for me to do this as i will administer the system if there are any problems.

Obviously the first thing i did was to test it with out firewall or little snitch on. I stated this in first post.

I know, I've read all of your posts in detail. You've talked about trying several different things, but I have no idea what order you've tried things in or what other variables might have been involved during your tests. The only way for me to troubleshoot this with you is to do it step-by-step systematically.

Next I want you to try access the Indigo Web server on the Mac running the Indigo Server itself. To do so, launch Safari on that Mac and try this URL:

http://127.0.0.1:8176
(or :777 if the default port is still changed)

Next, launch the Apple Terminal application, and copy paste this followed by pressing the Return key:
Code: Select all
ps -axww | grep Indigo

then copy/paste out the results into a forum post for us. We'll get to the bottom of this failure eventually. I think we are close.

Hi, Thanks for sticking with me.

Okay, I followed your instructions to the t.

And nothing comes out of terminal.

And safari on mbp running indigo 4 will not connect to the url: http://127.0.0.1:8176

I CHANGED Indigoe 4 port back to default.

Not sure why terminal command is doing nothing now. Any ideas ?

You really think we are close. i AM PERSISTENT I HATE TO LEAVE A MYSTERY UNRESOLVED..!

Message in Safari is:

Safari can’t connect to the server.
Safari can’t open the page “http://127.0.0.1:8176/” because Safari can’t connect to the server “127.0.0.1”.

What did you do exactly? I just tried it by pressing the SELECT ALL link above the line, choosing Copy, launching Terminal, choosing Paste, and pressing the Return key.

Do that, then select all in the Terminal window and copy/paste into a forum reply (even if it does nothing).

Indigo isn't running on that Mac then. I might not have been clear about that -- you need to do that in the Terminal on your Mac running Indigo Server.

It is running.

I can turn light on and off from my mba connecting to remote indigo 4 server by means of connected to mbp runnng indigo 4 server connected to cm15a.

And I can turn a light on and off with either machine, but only throuth the indigo 4 app.

1) Which Mac is running Indigo Server and has the CM15A connected to it?

2) Which Mac did you run the Terminal command in?

3) And do you have multiple OS X user accounts on your Indigo Server Mac?

ONLY MBP IS RUNNING A SERVER.

MBA IS CONNECTING TO SERVER FROM MBP. JUST TO BE CLEAR. SO IT IS RUNNING.

I MUST BE DOING SOMETHING WRONG IN TERMINAL.

ALL I DID WAS OPEN UP TERMINAL AND COPY AND PAST THIS LINE IN:

ps -axww | grep Indigo

SURLY I have not f that process up its pretty basic...!

That doesn't answer my question #2 above.

I am truly baffled. I cannot explain why the Terminal command is showing that Indigo is not running but it is.

Anyone else out there have a clue how "ps -axww" could not return one of the Indigo processes when they are running?

Just enter this into the Terminal:

ps -axww

without the grep, and copy/paste the results.
