Post What Happened????
I have been happily using my Indigo remotely via my iPhone 3gs. However, it was a few weeks since the last time I used it and in that time I may have uploaded software updates for the iPhone. In any case, I can easily use my iPhone to operate Indigo when I am on my home network, but can no longer do it remotely. Now when I try to use it, it says it is connecting via the AT&T network and sure enough the devices show up, but when I try to turn a light on or off, nothing happens-- either on the iPhone or at my home, as monitored by remote cameras.

Hopefully this is a small issue and one that is easy to fix but I have no idea what to do. I have entered my user name and password but that made no difference... Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated... Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Are you using Prism for remote access? If so, can you use the web pages successfully? Does anything show up in the Indigo log when you try to control via Edge/3G? Note, you can turn off the wireless network on your iPhone to diagnose while you're at home.

Post still not working
HI Jay and thanks for your help... My understanding is that I am using Prism to access Indigo at home, when I am away... this is what I did to try to answer your question. On my iPhone, under settings, I turned of WiFi so that Indigo on my iPhone wouldn't connect via WiFi. Then I went to the Indigo application on my iPhone.. it took a few seconds then it said it was connected via the 3G network, not my WiFi. The device pages appeared but again, I wasn't able to effect any actions and nothing reflecting an attempt showed up on the Log, as it did when I was connected via WiFi. When I selected Control Pages via the iPhone app, nothing showed up there so I wasn't able to try anything there. I even restarted the reflector, I think, anyway. I have posted the log below for you to look at...again, thanks for your help.

When it is not working, what happens if you launch Safari on your iPhone and try to connect to:

https://sabre.goprism.com/

And what about just connecting to some other site like Google:

http://google.com/

HI Matt, thanks for adding your suggestions.... from my iPhone I was able to log onto the Prism website and see all my devices but again, nothing happened when I tried to turn something on or off....I can also log onto Google as well from my iPhone without any problems... the log didn't record any activity but did show that the reflector connection test failed and maybe you can figure out something from that... thank you for your time.

Do you have more than one Mac, and if so did you maybe copy over the Indigo settings files from that Mac? Based on what you are seeing, which is that it connects but nothing is logged or happens when you click on things, it makes me think that you are not connecting to the Mac that is really connected to your power line interface.

No wonder you call your company Perceptive!! Just about the time this all happened I had just purchased a new iMac and used the feature that allows you to connect the two together to copy everything from one to the other. My older computer is at work and I will have to wait till I go back tomorrow to remove the Indigo software which, as you correctly determined, is not connected to the Power module, unless there is another way to force it to connect to the correct computer at home. I will let you know how I make out. Thanks for the information!!!

Sigh....Matt and Jay, unfortunately, having Indigo installed on another computer turned out NOT to be the problem. When I got to work yesterday, I looked for Indigo in the application folder and it wasn't there which leads me to believe that I had already uninstalled it previously. There may be other components installed that I did not find when removed it but I wouldn't know where they might be, and if they would even cause the problem I am having...

If you have any other recommendations I would love to hear them... Thanks

Geoff

This is what I got from running that command on the computer at work where I am now. Did you want me to run it from the one at home too?

This is showing the Indigo Server is still installed on your work Mac. Delete this entire folder, then reboot:
Code: Select all
/Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 4/

Ah ha. So, while you may have deleted the Indigo client application, which resides in the Applications folder, you didn't delete the server app and the launch document that starts it up automatically. This is the problem. What you'll want to do is delete:

/Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 4/ (the entire folder - that's the Library folder at the top level of your hard drive)
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.perceptiveautomation.IndigoServer2.plist (that's the Library folder in your user folder)

Then reboot and rerun the ps command Matt gave you from above. It should result in only a single line that says "grep Indigo".

BINGO!!!! That did it!!! I was able to turn on and off a light remotely!!!! Thanks so much Matt and Jay....its a funny thing.. your program is so well written, that it hardly ever needs any attention or maintenance. But because of that, when it does have an issue, its sometime hard to for users like me to find out the answer... simply because IT JUST WORKS!!!!

Thanks again....

Geoff
