Does this all need to be done with the current beta v5? I downloaded Lingon but i see that Indigo is in the "My Agents" area ,not in the daemon tab.

And i didnt add anything yet with Lingon.

Yes, because of the current system limitations of running Indigo as a daemon (biggest one: no AppleScript) it by default runs only after a user has logged in (under My Agents). You'll need to add it as a daemon yourself using Lingon.

Matt

I left the -daemon flag/argument on a second line, but am guessing it also works with just a space (" ") between the arguments and on one line.

Actually it needs to be on two lines. They are 2 arguements (0 amd 1) and wont go green in lingon if they are on one line.

Perhaps the dash widget cant connect to the daemon is another limitation?

Did you uncheck the "Auto start Indigo Server on user login" checkbox inside the Start Local Server dialog? Looks like you have IndigoServer trying to launch more than once -- once as a daemon, and then again when the user logs in. You can only have one copy of Indigo Server running at once. Unchecking that option will remove the launchd plist for the user login (but won't touch your daemon plist).

And yes, the dashboard widget cannot connect to the daemon, because the dashboard widget uses AppleScript to communicate with Indigo. You should be able to connect to the web server though.

Matt

FYI, we have discussed updating the widget to not use AppleScript. This hasn't happened yet, but it is on our large ToDo list. :-)

I believe this was already mentioned in another thread, but note that under Leopard you will be able to turn any web page, or portion of a web page, into a Widget. You can read about it on Apple's site -- see the section called Clip it.

3.0.0 Beta 11 Running on Leopard Server, I am using the admin account, i have Indigo starting automatically.

Every time i start the server it tells me "Non-administrator users can only connect to Indigo server which are already running" Is it safe to assume this is a bug? is there a simple workaround that might allow me to get Indigo in a usable place?

That error is a bit misleading. What Indigo really requires is the ability to read and write to all folders (and sub-folders) inside here:

/Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 2/

For some reason, your install of Indigo doesn't have the correct permissions for that folder or one of its sub-folders. If you modify them all to be writable by the user which is starting Indigo Server, then it should launch and work correctly.

Matt

thanks... i updated the permissions, restart the server...

- I am greeted with the Server Connection Status dialog
- When i click "Start Local Server" it appears that the server is already running as "Start and connect to Indigo Server..." is selected.
- I stop the server, i start the server
- Indigo main windows pop up, so does a dialog saying that the old database file was successfully converted and that i need to save.
- No matter what i do next Indigo crashes and i am back at the Server Connection Status dialog

Hopefully this can help you to fix something... possibly you know of a workaround.

I'm not sure what is going wrong.

Anyone else running one of the new betas under Leopard Server?

Do upgrade to the latest beta, and before you do delete the Databases folder:

/Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 2/Databases/

This should prevent the "save the database" dialog from appearing. Maybe that is part of the problem. Let me know how it goes... and if it still crashes then please send me (indigo-support at perceptiveautomation.com) the Crash Report file.

Regards,
Matt

I'm running Indigo Beta (12) under Leopard Server. I'm starting the server using a Startup Item as I mentioned in this thread.

When I first ran the indigo client, I got the dialog saying I needed to save the converted database. I fixed that by logging in as the admin user on the server itself and then saving the database. Its stopped bugging me on remote clients after that.

I didn't get a crash during all this.

I would love to see Indigo start for me when the machine turns on without any users logging in. When I get some free time, I'll probably go ahead and follow these instructions.

As a suggestion, maybe have an option to have the server launch as a service, but when that is selected, pop up a warning dialogue that tells the user that AppleScripts will not be functional unless a user logs into the system. Those that don't need AppleScript yet won't care.
