SQLite 2 or 3

I am running Indigo server on 10.4 server, which has no SQLite as part of its install.

I want to install SQLite for the logging feature. I can install v2.8 (easier because its binary) or v3.2.

Is there any reason to install v3 instead of v2?

v2 will probably work fine, but you should install darwinports. Then it's just one command to install sqlite3: "sudo port install sqlite3"

Wiki says "In August 2000, version 1.0 of SQLite was released, based on gdbm (GNU Database Manager). SQLite 2.0 replaced gdbm with a custom B-tree implementation, adding support for transactions. SQLite 3.0, partially funded by America Online, added internationalization, manifest typing, and other major improvements."

See the last post in this thread. Leopard/Snow Leopard have SQLite 3 installed so that's what we've tested with.You'll also have to install an upgraded python (2.5) that has SQLite support. This isn't a tested configuration so YMMV.
