Re: Running Indigo on Apple TV using ATV Flash

I rebooted AppleTV.

Now I cannot reproduce situation in previous post number 4 (crashing). Now it is stable! :)

Still have problem described in point 3 - error message about licence:
Code: Select all
2010-06-14 21:01:43     Application     Indigo Cocoa client authentication failed - license level limited number of clients
2010-06-14 21:01:43     Application     Indigo Cocoa client disconnected
2010-06-14 21:02:27     Application     Indigo Cocoa client authentication failed - license level limited number of clients (192.168.1.107)
2010-06-14 21:02:27     Application     Indigo Cocoa client disconnected (192.168.1.107)

First time connection from AppleTV client, second from my MacBook.

Still did not got any window where to enter registration code. "About Indigo 4" says : "Indigo Lite licensed to:" and no any name.

How to activate Registration Window?

Re: Running Indigo on Apple TV using ATV Flash

Send me an email offline (indigo-support AT perceptiveautomation DOT com). There are few additional steps we can try to get it up and running.

Re: Running Indigo on Apple TV using ATV Flash

YES! :)

I got working IndigoServer on AppleTV!!!

I am able to connect from MacBook to IndigoServer on AppleTV!!!
I can configure settings from MacBook.
I connected CM15PRO from Marmitek. It just normally works!
I even started IndigoWebServer and able to connect with iPhone and control my X10 lamps!!!

Still not solved, just one issue. (but it is not important anymore):
Can start IndigoClient on AppleTv, but cannot start Server from it. Server should be started from command prompt.

Soon I will prepare step-by-step installation guide. So far you can look on my previous post. Great thanks to Indigo support!!!

Re: Running Indigo on Apple TV using ATV Flash

I'm in the process of setting up my applet tv as my Indigo server and this thread has been a great help!!

I'm to the point of starting the server and everything appears to be starting up fine. I get the following log statments in the log file:

Code: Select all
2010-07-17 01:58:50   Application   Starting Indigo Server version 4.1.10
2010-07-17 01:58:50   Application   Running in daemon mode -- AppleScript support disabled
2010-07-17 01:58:51   Application   applescript ignored (daemon mode)
2010-07-17 01:58:51   Application   applescript ignored (daemon mode)
2010-07-17 01:58:51   Application   applescript ignored (daemon mode)
2010-07-17 01:58:51   Application   applescript ignored (daemon mode)

Doing a netstat on the appletv shows that it is listening on port 1176 but I am unable to connect to it via my Indigo Client or telnet (from my macbook).

cikis, do you remember what you did to resolve this issue when you were seeing it?

Thanks,
JP

Re: Running Indigo on Apple TV using ATV Flash

jpfouch48, your log file output seems completly normal. I have such records in logfile each time when I start Indigo on Apple TV.

I had couple of times similar issue, but restart of AppleTv and Macbook solved the issue. Currently I do not have such problems anymore. Also 1st weeks it sometimes server and webserver crashed, but now it it works perfect. Mostly I using it from my iphone app.

If restart does not help, then some more ideas:
1) try different settings for server. This can be configured from Indigo Client. (checkboxes, or IP address) Even if it shows error, still those settings seems are used when you start server in daemon mode. (after each change try connect without AppleTv restart and also with restart of AppleTv)
2) when connect from Indigo Client located on AppleTv, then try to connect to IP localhost instead of actual IP address.

If fails, then describe what you tried and tommorrow I will be back home and can help on my environment.

Re: Running Indigo on Apple TV using ATV Flash

It won't work on an AppleTV 2 - it runs iOS on an ARM processor vs Mac OS X (mostly) on an Intel processor on the first generation AppleTV.

Re: Running Indigo on Apple TV using ATV Flash

Did anyone tried a full install of Leopard on the Apple TV first generation? I have 3 of those so I am going to give it a try over the weekend. I would love to run Indigo on one of them and maybe my Asterisk PBX on the other one.

Anyone tried?

Re: Running Indigo on Apple TV using ATV Flash

Nope. And remember - it's not a supported configuration... ;)

Having said that, let us know if you were successful.

Re: Running Indigo on Apple TV using ATV Flash

Jay of course is not supported :) That's the beauty of it :)

So STEP-1 is a success. I have 10.5.8 Leopard fully running on the Apple TV. See attached pic.
If there is interest I can write a quick how-to. It was really easy stuff.

STEP-2 is to install INDIGO and get it to work with this AppleTV running Leopard

Re: Running Indigo on Apple TV using ATV Flash

STEP-2.1 Completed. Latest INDIGO version installed and runs fine on the AppleTV Leopard. I now have to plug in my 2413U and see if it works with this setup.

If this works think about the simplicity of it. Buy an old AppleTV and have your own dedicated Indigo server :-)

Re: Running Indigo on Apple TV using ATV Flash

STEP-2.2 And mision accomplished . Pluged in the 2413U USB modem, installed the FTDI driver for 10.5.8, restart the AppleTV running Leopard & Indigo and voilà everything is working beautifully :-)

That was really really easy

Ethanw,

Why are you teasing us? Do you have a tutorial or recipe for this that you'd be willing to share?
