Re: Real time update of image files in Control Pages?
I'm actually working on a similar script to pull iTunes or a pandora player's artwork based on the currently playing album. Is there a way to TRIGGER a refresh rather than have the image periodically refresh? I'm either stuck refreshing a lot or having a lag in the album art update.

Nope - just use the refreshing image URL field type and point it whereever you put the image.

Re: Real time update of image files in Control Pages?
A feature request would be to have an "on change" radio button that when selected would ignore the timed interval and only update when the image on disk changed. As it type it occurs that would be difficult to detect if using a URL so maybe the timed parameter would not disable but would be a worst case refresh if the local file hadn't refreshed or to refresh a URL sourced image.
The windows based package I transitioned from had that ability and it was really nice in some circumstances.

Re: Real time update of image files in Control Pages?
Been doing a lot of graphic work on CP's lately and it sure would be nice if the images could be refreshed, like the background image, so when I make changes to them I wouldn't have to restart Indigo every time to get the updated image to show correctly. I realize I can rename/reload them but that gets messy in a hurry.
Thanks,
Carl

Re: Real time update of image files in Control Pages?
This has me a bit stumped. I made some changes to some buttons on a CP but they will not refresh on my devices. I restarted Indigo and the updated images show just fine on the CP editor. I force quit Indigo on my iPad, and other devices, but the original images persist.
I even shut down my iPad etc. but somehow the original images are all that will show.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Carl

Re: Real time update of image files in Control Pages?
You might want to reboot your mac that has the indigo server or kill that process. I ran into a lot of that while I was doing a lot of intensive work. I mostly ran into the problem when I would modify an image file and then replace it... seems the serving keeps throwing out the old image that is cached to some idevices... sometimes I would see it on one and not the other.
The way I ended up getting around this was to actually just keep renaming the image to something different. The alternative that I found is to change the control to a different image, save the control page, replace the old image, then open the control page and change it back. Clunky... but I got it to work and was able to see it on all the different UI's.

Re: Real time update of image files in Control Pages?
Thanks. No doubt, if I change the name it will work but when you have a ton of images it's just not practical. This is the first time I've come across where a restart of Indigo, and other devices wouldn't reset the images.

I just shutdown and rebooted the server and the old images are still showing on my devices...but are fine in the CP editor.
How is that even possible.

Re: Real time update of image files in Control Pages?
The indigo web server is the process that's actually serving the image so if killing Indigo Touch still results in the same image then IWS is serving the old one up. I wonder if somehow that process isn't getting restarted when you bounce the server. Try stopping the server then look to see if the IWS process is still running. If so, kill it manually then start the server back up.

Re: Real time update of image files in Control Pages?
If you are talking about on Indigo Touch, then force-kill Indigo Touch. It keeps a run time cache of the images, but that will be cleared if you kill it and restart it.

Are you sure you're connecting to the same indigo server? What you're describing shouldn't be possible...

Re: Real time update of image files in Control Pages?
Been down this road before and I agree it shouldn't be possible...but it was happening. I just quit Indigo again on my iPhone and iPad and now the correct images are showing.
I'd tried that a number of times before with no luck but for some reason now it did refresh the images.
I have only my config and the demo.
One for the go figure department.
