I've got one and it works very well for me. The API gives you full access. I use it with cron and curl, and Indigo/AppleScript. It really shines when I'm not there, I can programatically keep my critical pipes just warm enough. I've got a separate thermometer next to them (not another Proliphix probe, because I already had it, but that would work too).
It's not a 7 programable thermostat, it only has In, Out and Away modes with 4 time periods each. When I'm there I just run the In program. That works OK for my schedule but 7 day would have been nice. Of course you could still use the API.
Also note, the installation requires a cable be run from a proprietary power/network unit.
