I'm betting this is probably on the to do/wish list, but is there a way to trigger actions to fire when a control page is loaded in a browser without any user interaction?
There are a few things that I don't really need to poll the state of unless someone looks at them. That is, instead of polling device state on a timer, I want to only request the device's state at the moment it is needed - when the control page is viewed. One reason for doing this is for devices where requesting state has a cost, and thus you want to minimize state checks - one example would be when a state request impacts battery life (specific example; requesting state from an electric vehicle)
Both server and client actions on a control page require user interaction (you must click something manually). And there isn't a trigger that I'm aware of for when a control page is opened.
