Post Items dissappearing
This morning I woke up and all my Time/Date, Action Groups and Control Groups had dissappeared. The only thing left were my devices. However, all the various actions were still being executed as if they were still there. Anybody run accross this? When I went in to try to replace them using the same names I had previously used it wouldn't let me use them because it said they already existed.

Status update doesn't work any longer either. The devices don't update in indigo when I turn them on or off at the switch. I also added a switch and it won't locate it. Is it possible the powerlinc controller is bad?

Hmmm... the next time it happens, try quitting and restarting the Indigo client. Do they all reappear then?

But it was working? Are you using INSTEON or X10 (PowerLinc V2)? Does it start working after quitting and restarting the Indigo client?

Matt

I just reviewed the log from yesterday and it was working up until about 10:25 yesterday morning. From that point on nothing but failures. I have an insteon powerlinc controller. I've started and stopped several times and it doesn't make any difference.

Can you copy/paste from the Event Log into a post so I can take a look at the errors?

For some reason the status update is now working. I have no idea why. But Indigo now reflects the accurate status of a device when it's turned on or off at the switch. The keypad switch appears to be the only exception at this point.

It sounds like something might be causing excessive power line noise, or is attenuating the power line commands. UPSs are notorious for causing problems. Do you have one plugged into the same outlet or circuit as the PowerLinc? I'd try unplugging all of your UPSs (just let them run off of battery for a coupe of minutes) to see if that improves the reliability.

Lastly, do you have the PowerLinc plugged directly into a USB port on your Mac not a hub? Try directly into your Mac.

Matt

Yes the powerlinc is plugged in directly to the mac. What's a UPS?

Uninterruptible power supply. Do you have the SignaLinc RF pair plugged into opposite power legs? Try relocating them to other outlet, but make sure they remain on opposite power legs. You can also try plugging one of the SiganLinc RFs directly into the passthrough outlet of the PowerLinc itself (again, make sure the other one is on the opposite power leg).

I hate to sound like a rookie, but I am. How do you know if they're plugged into opposite power legs?

That's okay. :-) Actually, I don't recall off the top of my head. The LED blinks on the SignaLinc RFs a special way when they are on opposite power leg, but I don't recall exactly what it does: blink slow, blink fast, steady on. The SignaLinc RF manual will have the information on the specifics.

Matt

I relocated the powerlinc to a plug of it's own with nothing plugged into it. Previously I had a powerstrip plugged into it. I'll see if that helps.

Thanks for your help Matt.
