Re: Last update messed up KPLs

It is hard to 100% rule out Indigo of course, but based on the scenario (Indigo doesn't send that command unless you press the SET button AND the firmware of your KPLs don't even support remote setting of the button configurations) AND based on the fact that no one else has reported the problem it seems very unlikely.

Re: Last update messed up KPLs

For what it's worth, when I upgraded from v4 to v5 all my 8 button KPL's show as 6 button in the device dialog. I assume that's because of the old (i1) engine.

I didn't have any of the problems of button actions getting messed up that the OP had. All my buttons work as in v4.

Time to upgrade ALL my KPL's. OUCH!

which if that's the case, ouch, that's a very expensive 2 year upgrade cycle.

Re: Last update messed up KPLs

Yeah, it is possible that those older KPLs don't report back to Indigo their correct button configuration when Indigo does the sync. I thought they did, which is why in the UI shows the button config setting even though it is not remotely editable (which is why we disable the SET button). But I might be wrong on that, in which case the button configuration showing 6 in Indigo should just be ignored.

If that is the case, then I'm not sure exactly what the problem is and we'll need more details on:

All the buttons other than the main, no longer work as they once did, be they setting off action groups, or in one case are always just to turn on an action group and therefore should never remain lit, etc, etc...any thoughts?

That is, are the problems that the links shown in the link editor are no longer correct? Or is it something else? It isn't at all clear to me exactly what kpfriedberg is seeing. The more specifics the better.

Re: Last update messed up KPLs

Resetting to factory default doesn't help, and now I have these uneditable, unknown links....

Re: Last update messed up KPLs

Try: 1) Factory reset the module "Family Room Main Lights", 2) perform a Define and Sync of it, 2) copy/paste the contents of the Event Log window into a reply so we can see what is occurring.

Also, after that is complete, take another screen capture of the Manage INSTEON Device Links dialog for that device (to see if it is different).

This is exactly what I did...and that screenshot is the after step 2 above...

Re: Last update messed up KPLs

Your Event Log shows that the Factory Reset of "Family Room Main Lights" didn't take. It can be very tricky to factory reset those modules. If the factory reset had worked, then there would be no links in the module, but the log clearly shows it is reading links out of the module.

ok so how does factory reset work? that said, the unknown device links in the manage dialog box would be unaffected by a hardware factory reset no?

Re: Last update messed up KPLs

Looks like it still didn't take. The tricky part is the LED pipe has to go from the out position all the way to a depressed position in one fluid motion, then you have to hold it there for 10 seconds.

No, a factory reset will clear out all the links including ones to devices Indigo doesn't have in its database.

Re: Last update messed up KPLs

so looks like reset finally took, however many links are no longer there, specifically, when I press a button and a group action takes place....can you remind me how to do that again?

Re: Last update messed up KPLs

You can create those in the Link Editor dialog (screen shot you posted above). Indigo re-writes the links (on Define and Sync) if they are marked persistent in the link editor. If they weren't, then you'll need to re-add them.

I get that, but i don't see how to add an action group, only another device.
