Cleanest way to open/close gate and change KPL light
I have a few KPL's that I have assigned a button to open/close our front gate which I have an I/O link attached to. What I have setup is a trigger, one each for the On and Off status of the KPL button in case it is stuck in the wrong status (which if I could solve that issue I wouldn't need two). Doing it this way I have to have a trigger for each of the KPL's, which means three triggers. I'm thinking that it has to be simpler to do this with a script?
What I want it to do is with the push of button 6 on any of the designated KPL's I assign this to, it sends an On Command to the IO Link and then sends a scene command to the button 6 LED on all of those KPL's to turn it off, basically resetting it for another hit. I don't have a gate open/close sensor on the gate yet so I can't just leave the light on because the gate may not be open or closed.
My problem is that what I am getting now is inconsistent results, the gate opens/closes fine with the button press, but the resetting of the KPL light is inconsistent, it does not always do it. Not sure if it matters, but two of the KPL's are configured as 6 button, 1 is 8 button, but I'm using button 6 for this so I think it should be uniform.
It would be nice if I could just have one trigger for this that controlled all of the KPL's that I wanted to assign, I'd just need to add the KPL name to the script to have it be part of that.

I think I'd just use the Set KeypadLinc Button Toggle Mode action in the INSTEON Commands plugin to turn off toggle mode on the KPL button so it always sends the same command (ON or OFF, your choice) - that way you never have to turn the light on/off yourself.

Re: Cleanest way to open/close gate and change KPL light
Ahh, interesting, I like that. Works good, I like how it flashes the light on the button so you know it has been activated. I set it to default to off so after it triggers the light goes out. Makes it for just one Trigger for each switch, so now I have three triggers instead of 6.
Is there a way I can combine it into one? It is setup where if it sees an off command from button 6 on KPL1, then it triggers the gate. I can't pick multiple KPL's in one trigger, do I need to script that or is there a way to say if I see an off command from a group of KPL's button 6, then execute?

Well - if the button number you're always looking for is button 6 and every KeypadLinc you have will respond the same way, then you can do an INSTEON Command Received from Any device receiving button/group # 6 ON.
I think I'd just leave it one trigger per KPL button - it may seem like a lot of moving parts but I think in the end it's more understandable when you go back to change the behavior later.

Re: Cleanest way to open/close gate and change KPL light
Yea, it's not so bad, it's only three. I do have more than three KPL's though, so I could not use the "button 6 from any device". Maybe it's a feature request, to be able to select multiple devices in the triggers Thanks again for the help, it's much better than what I had. I have all my rough kitchen wiring is done, I pulled about 1,000' of romex over the last month or so redoing almost the whole house. So once the crew finishes the kitchen up and I do my finish wiring I may have a few more questions optimizing my scenes / KPL's if I can't find them by searching!

Jay - Thanks much.... I was researching just that when your reply came in.... One more stupid question, and I'll leave you alone.... How do I evoke that Insteon command?.... Thanks, thanks....

Are you sure you posted on the right thread? Just curious since your last post was about something else entirely. If so let me know and I'll move it. If not can you be more specific what you mean by "How do I evoke that Insteon command?"
