Somfy Z-Wave to RTS Interface (ZRTSI) & Indigo?

Just curious if anyone has experience with one of these and Indigo:

I'm wondering if it works well.

I've not even seen that device until you pointed it out so we don't know.

BTW, I deleted your other two duplicate posts... ;)

Re: Somfy Z-Wave to RTS Interface (ZRTSI) & Indigo?

I have this interface along with two Somfy Lt-30 powered roller shades. ZRTSI is meant to transform multichannel Z-wave commands (frm Indigo) into multichannel Somfy proprietary radio commands - RTS. The Somfy motors will only respond via radio to the RTS commands. Unfortunately the ZRTSI only syncs as a static controller within Indigo. I cannot make Indigo send it Z-wave commands. I think there may be two ways to deal with ZRTSI integration in Indigo. First and possibly the simpliest would be for Indigo to recognize it as a roller shade control device. Maybe the same code used for the Fibaro roller shade unit can run ZRTSI as long as Indigo recognizes it as such. I am not that keen on the multichannel capability, one maine channel would be fine. Second solution would be to write a plugin which is well beyond my abilities. For the time being the roller shades in my house are the only devices I cannot automate in Indigo. Everything else, from the simple switches and sensors to the thermostats and air conditioners all work like a charm.

I bought this controller too and it is working for me to control 5 somfy motors. Indigo controls it and reliably opens the shades each morning at sunrise and closes 15 minutes after sunset. It's great.

Re: Somfy Z-Wave to RTS Interface (ZRTSI) & Indigo?

i'd like to hear more about whether zrtsi works with indigo and if so, what it looks like and how easy it is to use. also what's the range of the RTS side of the device?

i have one set of shades currently controlled by an i/o linc connected to a somfy remote (smarthome's somfy dry contact interface kit) and am about to add two more sets of shades using two more of these. zrtsi sounds like it could be cleaner - since there's one unit to interface between indigo and RTS vs. three separate devices - and better - assuming it provides full up/down/stop functionality vs. just toggle between up/down as with the dry contact interface.

since the zrtsi is quite expensive (>$300) and at last report (earlier in this thread) not supported by indigo, i was reluctant to take the plunge and buy one, but it would be great to hear how you got it working and anything else you have to share about this device (including where you purchased it).

agrecu and sjoing: can you all post details about which ZRTSI version you have? I'm not sure if there is a version sticker on it, but from Indigo press the Edit Device Settings... button (in device dialog), then press the Write To Log button and copy/paste the results back to the forum so we can compare the two.

Re: Somfy Z-Wave to RTS Interface (ZRTSI) & Indigo?

I live in US so I bought mine from AVoutlet here: http://www.avoutlet.com/index.php?dispa ... ct_id=4476

I made two attempts at setting it up in Indigo. It did not work for me.

First you are supposed to set the upper and lower limits of the motors using a Somfy RTS remote. Next you have to associate the ZRTSI RTS signals with the motors' RTS signals. One can either associate all motors to the same channel or alternatively associate each motor with its own ZRTSI RTS channel. There is a way to check how well this part of the association works, meaning you can use the ZRTSI setup button to determine whether your motors respond directly to the commands sent by ZRTSI. Next is the Z-wave integration between ZRTSI and the Indigo. First you have to add the ZRTSI to your serial controller. In my case it is an Aeon Labs USB stick. That seems to work fine for me. After I do that and make an attempt at adding a new device in Indigo, the ZRTSI is assigned a node and synchronizes but as a "static controller" without any controls being available for the device.

I would be also very interested to know how others integrated the ZRTSI in Indigo since it may be something that I am doing wrong.

Please see my forum post above -- I'd like to see the Event Log results showing the device profile Indigo has retrieved from the module.

Re: Somfy Z-Wave to RTS Interface (ZRTSI) & Indigo?

the above output is from this device in Indigo (screenshot). I have five blinds in a bay window, each with a motor. This device in indigo controls all of them simultaneously using a particular address in the ZRTSI that is setup to trigger all motors. I also can control each motor individually using different addresses in the ZRTSI. So I am using 6 addresses.

Here's part of my device list in Indigo. Each address in the ZRTSI is a device, but I'm only using 6 of the addresses.

Hi,

The interface seems very interesting. As I do not know a lot about these this yet could you tell me what the restrictions are of the interface? There is mention of it being a 'static control' what ever that may be?

Marc
