I don't know if anyone has seen an iOS app called Magicplan: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/magicplan/id427424432?mt=8, but it's a great way to make fast floorplans. Basically you stand in the center of a room and photograph the corners, the app then creates a floorplan of the room, plus it's free. Cool stuff.

I used it to create a floor plan of my house. It works well. However, user beware. While the app and MagicPlan account (required if you want to "scan" more than 3 rooms) are free, receiving a copy of your created floor plan is NOT free. The prices are fairly reasonable, but it's not clear that they charge you for each plan you create until after you've already created your plan. I chose, instead, to use the free heavily watermarked PDF copy they do allow you to have, then removed the watermarks with Adobe Illustrator.
