 software issue or lamplink issue
Ok, this is driving me nutzs...
I have two single band lamplincs that will not respond to actions. They will respond to a timed scheduled event. They will respond if I manually click on them with my iphone or ipad.
They will not respond if I use them in an action or scene. I had this problem before, and when I upgraded my computer to an old emac, and started using indigo 5, it went away.
Now the email died this weekend, and Im using my old back up tower (Power mac g4) and Im back to indigo 4
What I have tried:
1. deleting and completely adding the device again. 2. resyncing all the links 3. doing a factory reset of the device 4. changing the device to a different location (same results) 5. restarting the server
To add to this: every time I do something, the default on the device resets to 20% (See pic)
Again, when I was in indigo 5, this didn't happen, now its back again.
Saving for that mac mini now.

Re: software issue or lamplink issue
If you own Indigo 5, then have you tried installing Indigo 5 on the Mac? Indigo will run a G4 processor, as long as it has OS X 10.5.8 or higher. I have two single band lamplincs that will not respond to actions.
I'm not sure exactly you mean by respond to actions. Do you mean inside a Trigger? Copy/paste from the Event Log into a reply showing exactly what occurs when it fails.

Re: software issue or lamplink issue
I'll post the event log when I get home, can't do that from work.
My eMac tanked, so I pulled out my old tower. It only has 10.4, so I can't run Indigo 5.
Two lamplincs do not respond to trigger actions or scenes. They will respond to scheduled events, or connection from my iPhone. What is odd is when I trigger a scene, and the lamp is suppose to go off, it appears to be off in indigo, and off on indigo tough. But the lamp stays on. I have to manually turn it off, or click it on and off again with indigo tough.
When I moved to Indigo 5 this problem went away.. I'm having a tech look at my computer tomorrow, but it I'm stuck with this old computer for a fw months, I'd like to solve this.

Re: software issue or lamplink issue
In the action panel for the Trigger that isn't working, add a small delay using the "Delay by N minutes" checkbox. Try 0.02 or 0.04 for the delay. The problem is likely a signal collision.

Re: software issue or lamplink issue
Thats interesting, and I'll try that tonight,
I still wonder why indigo 5 didn't have this issue when 4 does.
I only have about 12 devices running so far, and two duel band lamplincs ( on separate legs of course) at what point do I need to add a bridge or another duel band device?
Thanks for your help, I'll let you know the outcome,
Andy

Re: software issue or lamplink issue
You probably don't need any additional dual-band modules, unless you have problems reaching specific circuits.

Re: software issue or lamplink issue
Ok, attached is the even log: I'm getting a "No Load Detected" error.
I don't see a way to adjust the "Delay by N minutes" in a Scene.
I did set up two test actions. One to turn on all the lights, another to turn off all the lights. In the actions I delayed the two lights by .04, and all worked just fine. So did the second action for going to sleep.
The even log had no errors.
So.... do I have too many devices on one scene? What if I created two scenes and one trigger? (One scene for lamps and one for overhead lights?)
Just a thought. I;ll try that after the gym.

Re: software issue or lamplink issue
Okay, that is a different issue. You are using a PowerLinc Group/Scene but your "kitchen lamp by doorwall" module probably doesn't have the scene link for it. Therefore, double-click that device, then press the Re-Sync Links button and resync it. If that doesn't help, then factory reset the module (per its manual), then Re-Sync it again.

Re: software issue or lamplink issue
Yep, I did a factory reset, I deleted the device all together in every scene and action and schedule. I added it as a new device, and set up the links for using it in scenes, actions and the schedule i want it on. It still doesn't respond in a scene.
Also, when it doesn't turn off when it is used in a scene, or action, the software reads it as off. (both Indigo and Indigo Touch) however the light stays on.
I'm gong to split a scene (one scene for lamps, another with overhead lights) and have an action activate them. I wonder if this would resolve the issue.
One last thing: When I resync the links, the lamplinc resets to 20% and a ramp rate of 32 (see picture) This happened even after doing a factory reset.
Whats odd is that when I was running Indigo 5, this didn't happen. It started when I had to
downgrade due to a computer crashing. Its motivating me to save up for that mac mini.....

Re: software issue or lamplink issue
The problem is they are firmware 41 which is the new i2CS engine. Indigo 4 cannot communicate with those modules (but Indigo 5 can). It isn't able to write any settings or links in to them. In fact, if you upgrade to Indigo 4.1.21 then it won't let you Define and Sync them and will tell you they have the i2CS firmware.

Re: software issue or lamplink issue
Ahhhhhh.... So I'm not going crazy (at least in this part of my life anyway)
I'm finding out today if they can save mt emac, if not I deleted the two lamplincs from the scene, and added them in the action trigger separately. It is a little rough, but ok until I upgrade.
Thank you, these issues are a good learning experience
