 Generic applescript question
I've been looking over the posts on this forum and it seems that there are some very knowledgeable folks doing some pretty neat things with applescript. I'm having a problem with an application, Verizon VZ Access, dropping my modem connection. It's Verizon, go figure. Anyway, I have Indigo 4 running perfectly for a modest home automation system and the only problem is the modem dropping connections and thus the goprism reflector. My question is can an applescript be created to check the status of the modem via the application and restart the app if it's disconnected? I'm willing to start learning applescript if that can be accomplished. The Verizon app shows Connect under the File menu when it's disconnected and Disconnect when it's active. So can applescript be used to check the status under the file menu and if it lists Connect select that and create a new connection? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gary

 Re: Generic applescript question
So, the Verizon VZ Access Manager software controls the internet connection? It could be that the app itself is scriptable so you could easily have a script connect/disconnect. Unfortunately, I don't have it installed to check for you. If you want, zip up the application and mail it to indigo DASH support AT perceptiveautomation DOT com and I'll see if it looks scriptable.

 Re: Generic applescript question
Thanks for the reply Jay! Yup, the VZ Access Manager controls the usb or pc express card modems and makes the connection. I'm not at home right now but will zip it up when I return. Thanks for the help. Gary

 Re: Generic applescript question
Got it. Unfortunately it isn't scriptable. You may check on Verizon's web site to see if there's an update that is.
It's possible you could use UI scripting, but I'm just not that familiar with it. Maybe someone else has experience with it?

 Re: Generic applescript question
Ok, this is embarrassing. I thought I sent a thank you to you Jay which wasn't the case so Thank You! When time allows I'm reading the Applescript bible. Haven't gotten to the UI section yet but I'll let you know when i do and how it works out.
