Post Re: Find my iDevices!
It appears that Apple has switched over to a new URL for the Find My iPhone server... I will be testing a change over the weekend that appears to resolve this issue... This appears to be related to the iCloud service...

getting this now too -- fmi is not working. any update? thanks in advance.

I think there maybe a slight issue in communication.

I think he was talking about polling for the VersionID not the device location.

Oh.... Sorry about that then. I misunderstood....

The good news, is that I know how I want to change things for the next version....

My goal is:

1) Fix the device issue with configuring and reading the idevices initially from the FMIP service... Right now, there is a quite a bit of initial polling during startup, and I have decided on a method that should solve some of that...

2) See about setting up some method for updating the version ID strings in the FMID application...

The main issue I am running into is lack of time due to Real Life (tm) and Work (tm).

I am hoping to get some work done on Sunday... But for #1, I will need to look at making some custom Preferences for Indigo....

Here's the technical brief, for those that care.

Right now, we are configuring each individual device. So you may have 2-4 idevices listed in the device listings... Each one, potentially having a different login in MobileMe / iCloud.

I realized, that I am looking at this backward. Instead, I am going to make a iCloud / MobileMe Login in the database. And in the preferences, it will list each device that is available under that login. And you'll be able to choose, Monitor this device, or Ignore this Device.

The HTML backend will be the same, but it will simplify the logistics, assuming I can make this work inside of the Indigo plugin framework.

Post Re: Find my iDevices!
Unfortunately,as it turns out, I'm probably going to have to go to Travis' smartphone radar to determine whether I am home or away... while it's not your fault, it looks like Verizon or iCloud has one of the cell towers that is being used as a local beacon misplaced; iCloud consistently locates my phone in the parking lot across the street when I am at work, and one street over when I'm home. In both cases, the phone is consistently 100 - 150 yards (not feet) south and 25 to 40 yards east of the phone's true location, which kind of makes me leary of even trying to ask Siri for directions to an address...

iDevice stopped logging into iCloud even though the username and password are correct. I can log into iCloud from my browser without any problems.

Yes, Apple has changed the version string ID, and I have not yet had a chance to test a patch to resolve the issue. I am hoping to have a patch out on Sunday, and then to start working on fixing and revising some other issues.

Thanks, I found it and got it running however it says in the log that my mobileme account info is not correct, however it absolutely is. Anyone know what would cause this? Also I noticed I am using the latest download 1.221, but it says an update is available...

I need to make one more change, and I will be releasing a new version that will fix this, and adds an update system to the Find My iPhone engine....

To answer your question, it's because the plugin has no way to know that Apple is refusing the login due to the API change that they made.

So the plugin is assuming your credentials are wrong, since the results looks the same to it.

Find My iDevices v1.30 is now ready, http://dl.dropbox.com/u/241415/Find%20M ... 0v1.30.zip

The major change in this version is that I have added a second update check into the plugin, that will check to see if the Find My iPhone library is out of date. If so, it will download a newer version, and install it into the plugin.

Post Re: Find my iDevices!
just installed, and I'm getting this error in the log...

Find My IDevices Debug Scanning for update
Find My IDevices Debug Registering Find My iDevice - philip's idevice (1998426361)
Find My IDevices Error Error in plugin execution ServerRemovedElem:

File "plugin.py", line 269, in build_device_record
<type 'exceptions.KeyError'>: key com.schollnick.indigoplugin.FindMyiDevices not found in dict

Additionally ,there are no idevices listed in the device list when I try to set one up. If I go to the find my idevice web page, it lists no devices and no map. What am I doing wrong? The login info is correct - that I know. Also, I'm on iCloud, not MobileMe if that makes a difference.

Thanks,
Phil

FIGURED IT OUT. Normally, an AppleID includes the @mac.com or @me.com...so that is what I entered. On a lark, I removed the @mac.com from my login name and the devices populated. Not sure if that was really the problem or if it was just coincidental, but now it appears I'm getting data.
