Hey Ben,
Got this one too!
It looks like the timestamp for "LastUpdated =" is 3 hours behind my Indigo server and Mac Mini time. I am in the Eastern time zone. Does the plugin think I am Pacific time perhaps?

Waive Off!!! I had a little bit of dyslexia kick in. The time is accurate :)

Still curious about the update window in the configure plugin settings though...

Re: Find my iDevices!

Figured out what I was doing wrong. I was trying to configure the icloud registration and the iDevice registration under the same device. Didn't realize I had to create devices for each.

FMID finds them but I'm getting internal server errors when I attempt to view the map from my web server.

Indigo 7, Monterey (12.1) on a 2009 Mac Pro..

Re: Find my iDevices!

Suggestion:
Would it be possible to setup a window of time for location polling in the configure plugin dialogue below:
Screen Shot 2012-09-09 at 2.54.36 PM.png
Screen Shot 2012-09-09 at 2.54.36 PM.png (15.47 KiB) Viewed 3390 times

For example, I would not need FMID to poll for location between say 2230-0500 when my iDevice is on my nightstand and I am asleep.

Thoughts?

Also, how would I setup a trigger to do something when I was further than X distance away from my home:

Screen Shot 2012-09-09 at 3.07.57 PM.png (22.25 KiB) Viewed 3390 times

It appears we can only have a trigger fire when we are closer. Is that correct?

Thanks,
~Lou

DU Lou,

The first issue, with the updating schedule....

The easiest answer, is to setup a Schedule for that time period, and under Actions, choose:

Type - Plugin
Plugin - Find My iDevices
Action - Update iDevice Status

Now, I encourage you to set this at least with 2-3 minutes in between the polls...

On the second issue, with the distance... That's an oversight on my part... I was thinking about the proximity to an location, I'll have to rethink that trigger...

Sounds good Ben. Have you noticed a major battery drain on the device when polling every 2-3 minutes?

No worries, I was just thinking of a situation where I would want the thermostat to go into "Away" after traveling X distance from the house.

Major? I'm not sure. But I have seen more battery drain, which is why I don't recommend doing this for a long period of time, and the normal poll time can only go down to 15 minutes... >g<

Force an update, with the log file open, and when it finishes, check the last_updated state for each device. Is it accurate?

On the web page, does the last_updated field for each device match what is in the device's last_updated state?
For that matter, does the web data match what's in the device's states?

In the/Library/application support/perceptive automation/indigo 5/IndigoWebServer/plugins/Find-My-iDevices folder, does the time/date stamp of the "pickled_data" file match the time/date of the last update from Find My iPhone?

(The pickled_data file contains a snapshot of the Find My iPhone data... It's how the IndigoServer Plugin exchanges data with the Indigo Web Service, since they can't currently communicate directly...)

This information should help isolate the issue....

Hi Ben, I just compared the LastUpdated state of my device to the pickled file and there is a discrepancy. LastUpdated=18:24 while the pickled_data is 18:05. Any thoughts?

~Lou

*** UPDATE*** If I reload the plugin, pickled_data updates right away.

I did find a issue that might prevent the pickle file from being updated, if you trigger the idevice status update from a trigger or from the plugin menu. But the timed schedule from the plugin should always update the pickle file.

Please drop me a line at benjamin AT schollnick dot net, and I'll have you test the changes... I think it may solve your issue...

Re: Find my iDevices!

Will there be an updated version in the near future that will allow the option to detect "distance greater than" X from a location?

Is there another/better way to determine when the iPhone has left a designated area?

Thanks,
Jon

Yes Jon. There will be. I need to make a small modification to enable that... The issue is simply of time, I have been very busy the last week or so.

Re: Find my iDevices!

Ben,

I'm trying to install your plugin with no luck. I copy everything as stated in your readme file, but when I double-click the plugin installation it says that my DB file is corrupt - I select it again and it works but no plugin showing anywhere.

Any clue?

thanks,

Dario

Double check that you are updated to the latest version of Indigo...

Indigo has a bug that you just ran into. To work around it, change the Find My iDevice Plugin file's extension from .Indigoplugin to .IndigoPlugin.

Either that or manually copy the plugin file to /Library/Application Support/Indigo 5/Plugins

Re: Find my iDevices!

I have an odd one happening. Whenever my wife's iPhone is at work it shows
in the device state as a very different address than her actual location.

The pin on the CP map for her phone is dead on but the address shown is a couple miles away.
No big deal as it's so consistently off I've just set the incorrect address as a condition
for her being at work.
Anyone else seeing anything like this?

I'm using 1.5.1.

Thanks,

Carl

Take the Lattitude and Longitude and go to google maps....And type the latitude comma longitude into Google Maps.

Does it correspond properly? The address is geolocated via Google Maps GeoLocation API. It's possible that there's a bug, if you email me the latitude and longitude, and the address it's reporting, I can take a look and see if I can isolate anything... Email me at Benjamin AT schollnick dot net.

Re: Find my iDevices!

I have an issue of it updating. using FMID version1.60. If I add my laptop device and it is turned off, then none of my devices get update. Once I deleted the laptop, the update completed successfully. However, on the map the updates do not get stored. I did a force update using the plug-in menu Force update. The map data continues to provide the 9/29/12 data points. I went to each device and re-saved them starting with the login device. This is the first version I've installed. I created these devices: login device, 2 iPhone devices, 1 iPad device.

It also wold be nice to have a force update on the provided web page and the ability to have multiple Apple login ID's (my wish list).

Matthew

Thanks,
Matthew
