 Re: iTunes server unavailable
Yeah, I've recently noticed that error. I think something about how iTunes responds to DACP (the undocumented protocol we use to talk to it) changed in some newer version of iTunes. My testing shows that whenever iTunes is restarted the plugin isn't able to automatically reconnect like it used to and that seems to be the error. Anyway I'm looking into it - hopefully I can figure out what the protocol wants in that scenario. I really wish Apple would publish a real API for doing this sort of thing...
EDIT - actually, looking closer at your trace, that's not exactly the error I'm seeing. That error looks like there is some sort of network issue between the plugin and the iTunes instance it's talking to. Are they on separate Macs?

 Re: iTunes server unavailable
Nope, everything is contained on the same machine. Could it have anything to do with the fact that iTunes is set to play through remote speakers?

 Re: iTunes server unavailable
Definitely shouldn't. Unless iTunes gets hung up trying to communicate with the speakers. iTunes has an annoying habit of starting the spinning beach ball and when that happens it does NOTHING. So any communication we're doing with DACP gets completely thrashed. Though the spinning beach ball doesn't always happen. For instance, when you hook up an iOS device and it starts the sync process, DACP comm becomes really flakey.
The 600 error you're seeing is a network timeout. Since you're running locally I think it means that iTunes is just going out to lunch trying to do something. I suppose it could also mean that your Mac is having some trouble as well...

 Re: iTunes server unavailable
We also have SafeEyes running on this Mac. It causes issues sometime and is constantly communicating with its home server. That could have something to do with it too.

 Re: iTunes server unavailable
No idea what that is, but if it's caused other issues I'd just disable it for a while and see if the problem persists.
