Post Trigger questions regarding alarm state
Hello,

My goal is to make a trigger (or series of triggers) which does the following:
-- When alarm happens, send an email (using SMS gateway) to me. (I set Trigger tab to: Device state changed > Alarm panel > Alarm occurred > Becomes 1. Action tab is set toSend email to me immediately.)

-- 5 minutes after an alarm happens, send an email (using SMS gateway) to selected other individuals. (I set Trigger tab to same as above, Device state changed > Alarm panel > Alarm occurred > Becomes 1. Action tab is set to Send email to others. "Delay by" is checked set for 5 minutes.

-- If I disarm the panel within the first 5 minutes of an alarm, I do *not* want to send the email to the selected other individuals. Therefore, I made a 3rd trigger as follows: Device state changed > Alarm Panel > Alarm state Changed to Ready to Arm > Becomes true. (meaning that I have disarmed the panel). Action tab is set to "Remove delayed actions > Remove all Delayed Actions."

That 3rd trigger should cancel the 2nd trigger if delayed, right?

Post Re: Trigger questions regarding alarm state
I notice now that my 3rd trigger which removes all delayed actions when the alarm panel state changes to "Ready to Arm" is being constantly triggered when the system is disarmed....

as in - every few seconds.

I realize that these messages are coming in from the ad2usb every few seconds, but it's as though the Indigo software doesn't understand that... I have configured the ad2usb via the terminal to dedup the messages with no change.

The current results of my testing with the above triggers, given this behavior, is as follows:

-- Disarmed - it's fine. It repeatedly fires the 3rd trigger which does nothing more than cancel delayed actions.
-- Armed (either mode) - nothing is happening. that's fine.
-- Alarm occurred - it fires the 1st trigger sending me multiple text messages, one every 3 to 5 seconds. until I disarm it.
-- 5 minutes after initial alarm occurred w/out disarming - it fires the 2nd trigger... repeatedly... sending multiple SMS to relatives as configured. (If I check Override previous delay though, this trigger never fires.)

So I either bug the crap out of those who get the 2nd notification.... or they don't get any notification at all. Looking for a happy medium that only sends them 1 message, or makes this trigger only fire once or twice.

I don't know anything about the ad2usb plugin so this is probably a question better asked on their forum.

I can tell you that if you're using a "Device State Changed" trigger on some device's state and it's firing continuously, then the value of the state is actually changing. So for instance, if the value of a state is "disarmed" and the plugin tells the server to update the state to "disarmed" again, it will not cause the trigger to fire - the value actually has to change for the trigger to fire. Again - I think you're going to have to ask in the ad2usb form.

I have it sorted. It was triggering action 3 due to the motion sensor. It turns out that when there was actually a true alarm, it only triggered each action once.

Thanks!
