Just purchased a New 2414U to replace my 1132cu.
I am using OSx 10.6.8
I installed FTDIUSBSerialDriver_v2_2_
Indigo will still not comm with my laptop.
Cable is good it can still comm with my 1132cu.

The PowerLinc 2414U doesn't use the FTDI driver (but the 2413U and 2412U require it).

Are you sure you have the correct interface chosen in Indigo's preferences dialog?

After two days its started to comm. but I moved it to another location and it started the same routine it will not comm.

whilel it was at the last location it would not comm. to the instron all the time.

I am using Indigo 5.0.4

THe setting in Indigo have to be right if it did comm. after two days.

Hope you can come up with another suggestion.

Try the following, in order:

1) Replace the USB cable. It is a common cable (printers, etc., use it) and there have been cases where a marginal cable causes problems.

2) Unplug all USB devices except your keyboard, mouse, and the PowerLinc.

3) Try different USB ports on your Mac.

4) Try different circuits. You mentioned moving it to another room, but I'm not sure if that outlet was on a different circuit. You can use an extension cord to quickly try other outlets/circuits without moving your Mac.

5) If none of that helps, then I believe your PowerLinc has malfunctioned.

I have the same problem... however mine stopped working when I applied the 5.04 upgrade. Moved to the new database structure and now no control.

Not a new installation, nothing changed except upgrade to 5.04. Everything worked fine for months, now no communication with interface.

Try the same steps above. Unfortunately, the upgrade to 5.0.4 is just a coincidence. You can try downgrading to the previous version, but I'm 99.99% sure that won't help...

Just a update, Smarthome is sending me a new 2414U . They agreed when I told them it did not show up in the usb device manager. Will post again when I get the new 2414U
