4.1.4 has trouble finding scripts

hi guys, thanks for the update. seems solid, snappy.

one thing i noted is that several scripts failed to load after the update, with the error 'can't locate script'.. some link or plist seems to have been corrupted, overwritten?

easily solved by re-pointing the action group to the script. but wanted to mention it. never had this issue with a build before.

there were a few for me, some in the background scripts folder, and some in the scripts root level. the ones in the attachment folder seemed ok.

also to note, most of them were ones that had replaced default scripts, not sure if that's interesting or not. obviously they had unique new names..

anyway. fwiw.

Hrm... I haven't a clue what could have caused that. Indigo stores those file references in the database file itself. I don't know why they would have stopped resolving. Did you update to OS X 10.6.5 around the same time? I wonder if that could be related.

Anyone else notice any problems with script files not being found?

Re: 4.1.4 has trouble finding scripts

A few months ago I found that something had appended " - file not found" to the names of a few linked scripts in my Actions Lists. I should have mentioned it at the time, but I re-linked the script and the problem went away, and I forgot about it. I have no clue what caused it or even exactly when it happened.

Here's an example from a Trigger Action that I never got around to fixing:

Code: Select all
execute linked AppleScript file "SetTimeVariable.scpt - file not found"

This was with OS 10.5.? on my G4 Mini.

Whenever I start up the server for Indigo 5 Beta 6 I see this in the log

Code: Select all

  Trigger                         Weather
Error                           error executing script file: Weather NOAA sync.scpt - file not found
  Trigger                         Security
Error                           error executing script file: Indigo Timers.scpt - file not found
  Trigger                         iTunesSync
Error                           error executing script file: iTunes sync.scpt - file not found

Here are the files and their perms and owner:

Code: Select all
bdaniels-mini:Background Tasks bdaniels$ pwd
/Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 5/Scripts/Background Tasks
bdaniels-mini:Background Tasks bdaniels$ ls -la

Re: 4.1.4 has trouble finding scripts

That happened with many of my scripts after upgrading to b5. As far as I know, the problem went away after pointing to the scripts again. It happened occasionally with version 4 also.

Re: 4.1.4 has trouble finding scripts

Indigo stores file references as Mac OS alias records. As you know, Mac aliases will track the file no matter where you move them (on the same disk). So, when upgrading to 5.0, the aliases in all of the execute script file actions will continue to point to the files in the 4.0 location until you reselect them.
