Hi Perceptive..... Thanks in advance for your help, which I'm sure will be quick and concise, as always.

Problem with Insteon keypad not consistently responding. Event log shows sometimes a simple "on" is received, and sometimes "on to 100% (instant)" received, as shown:

Received INSTEON "Kitchen Pad" on (button 1)
or sometimes
Received INSTEON "Kitchen Pad" on (button 1) instant

though it seems I push the button the same each time.

In ignorance, I simply coded two seperate nearly-identical triggers. Works but not elegant. Can you enlighten on the proper approach?.... Thanks, thanks,

The "instant" means the switch thinks that you double-tapped it, so it sends a different message. I sometimes use this control scenes, so that a normal ON or OFF at a switch just turns off that light, but a double-tap will execute a trigger in Indigo to also turn on some lamps in the same room.
