Device Group

Hi All,

[Indigo Newbie]

I notice I can configure a virtual device group which the comments say a "snapshot" of the daughter devices and be kept.

This is great..

Once I've made that snapshot is there a way to recall it?

What I'm trying to achieve is the following:
- Lights a given status
- Alarm triggered
- This triggers an Action group to a) Snapshot what configuration the lights are in, and then turn them all on.

- Once the Alarm is cleared, reset the lights back to the Snapshot of where they were before the lights were all turned on.

Cheers!

R.

Re: Device Group

Turn on the device group (just like you do with a light/appliance).

Re: Device Group

Sorry for being a bit thick (you're getting the measure of me!) - so if I turn the virtual device group on what it actually does is recalls the snapshot for the virtual device group?

Cheers,

Re: Device Group

Yes - it sets all the devices in the group to whatever was saved for them the last time (which means that some devices could go off despite it being an ON command). We did this so that built-in UIs in Indigo Touch and the Indigo Web Server can control Device Groups without having to create a custom control page (or releasing a new version to support custom controls).

Basically, a Device Group from Indigo's perspective is a standard On/Off device.
