Zoom finder script?

My media room set up is a mac mini running indigo and connected to a 55 inch
led lcd tv and a Denon AVR 990. The Denon is controlled with Cynical’s Denon
plug in (Thanks Cynical for a great plug in) and the TV and cable box are controlled
with a Zephir infrared and apple script. When in the media room all equipment is
controlled with a track pad and remote linc 2. Very rarely I need the keyboard but
it is normally hidden away under the coffee table.

The problem I have is when finding a movie to watch on one of my hard drives, the small text on
the drive list is hard to read from across the room. I can drag out the keyboard to
a zoom using the ^control key with one hand and the scroll gesture on the track pad,
with the other hand (not very practical).

What I want to do is have two apple or python Scripts one to zoom the screen a
percentage up and one to set it back to normal. I can than set up one button on
the remotelinc2 to zoom up when pressing the button and back when holding the
button.

So the question is can the finder be zoomed using a script and if yes what wood it
look like. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Elwood

Re: Zoom finder script?

Under accessibility, you can toggle keyboard shortcuts to zoom ~10% over the cursor. Command+Option+"=" zooms in, all that+"-" zooms out. I would think you could fashion an apple script to do that pretty handily. Maybe not exactly what you are doing... but I'm sure there is some other type of accessibility function out there that will do what you're looking for.

Re: Zoom finder script?

Thanks Dewster35 for the hint.
Took a little playing with the script to getting it to work. Now it does just what I wanted.
Below is the zoom up script for anyone who needs to do the same thing.
Zoom down just replace "+" with "-"

Thanks again Elwood
