Plugin request/commission/bounty APC PDU power strips

HI,

I have a number of APC AP7900 ethernet controllable power strips. I would love a plugin to control them from indigo, but don't have the time to write one (father of young twins).

Would anyone be interested in being paid to write such a plugin?

They are controllable with ssh/telnet/snmp/web SNMP is likely the most likely choice. I picture using SNMP calls to control it and a python SNMP trap receiver to track status changes being a solid design. A bonus would be tracking the power consumption via built in usage stats.

I will toss one in in addition to payment for completion of the plugin.

PM me or comment if interested.

Thanks,

-Chris

Chris,

I am doing some research on this right now.... I have looked into SNMP with Python a while back, but that was literally 10+ years ago. So I expect the difficulty factor has significantly reduced.....

I need to look into a proof of concept, regarding the SNMP management aspect... But I believe that this is an achievable goal...

I plan to try some SNMP testing with our Airport Extreme later today... Once I see some results there, I can better advise you regarding this plugin, and if I will be able to help with it....

From the research that I have done, it appears that the APC AP 7900 uses the Powernet MIB...
Which means that we should be able to control anything that is in the MIB, see http://ipmsupport.solarwinds.com/mibs/P ... /oids.aspx

Please feel free to drop me an email (benjamin AT schollnick DOT net), and we'll discuss what features your looking for...
