With polling off, I have been playing, stopping vol up dn next and previous on 2 zones with correct function and no errors!!

If I issue either a line-in or playlist, errors are generated and either plug-in has to be reloaded or sometimes restart sonospy. Sounds like you identified the line-in problem with names so I think it may be stable without polling. Suggestion that worked on another plug-in is to make the polling rate user settable so we can see at what rate/timing (if any) the polling is stable for a given setup.

I am very encouraged today as it is basically working as needed.

I hope after the basics you will add method to group/ungroup zones and a way to remember zone setup for announcements.

I have a lead on a zone player I let my son's fraternity house use that I may be able to get back. If so, I would be willing to send to you for testing. Would you please pm me and we can discuss.

I have yet another release (v0.2.7) with what I believe to be correct Liine-In code. Terry - polling on/off should not have an impact on whether the plugin crashes or not. I do take your point on creating a variable for polling interval - I will try to wrap that in to the next release.

I did have an error on the reference zone - where a space in the name like you had created an issue. Give this latest release a shot. I think it will work a bit better. There will be some errors thrown on startup (figuring out line-in names) - this is normal.

Terry - thanks for all the testing and debug outputs. It has helped considerably getting to this point. Once I nail all of the basic functionality, I will look at the grouping.

I may also try to package SonosPy in and create some config UI for it, but that is a low priority at this point. Time is limited to work on this.

Strange. Quick question: do you have two ZonePayers with the same name (Guest Room)? I would not know how to distinguish between the two if that were the case.

With polling and debug on it is continuous in the log so I captured a sample. Without debug it is just a continuous stream of errors

I have two play 3's setup in sonos to play stereo. One plays the left channel and one the right. I haven't tested for a few versions but it was working but now is not. Sonos only shows one zone, but two zones are shown in sonospy. When I first setup the device I just typed in Guest Bedroom. Now with the new device drop down it lists two?

Ended up working late last night so never got to test. You guys are progressing at some speed. Can't wait to see how it works here.

I too have the same errors as Terry with line in. I too have renamed.

All other functions are working perfectly! Great work.

One more thing to add that I think would be useful at this stage is "switch to queue". I have this working through AppleScript still. When you have line in selected, you can switch a zone back to the previous queue.

Unfortunately my AppleScript only restarts the current queue from the beginning again. I guess that leads onto another function - "annouce" which would save queue position or current playing, switch to line in for announcement, then switch back to current position. Just something to add to the list, for another day

I've noticed that when the tread count reaches 2040 the plugin stops working. I have to restart sonospy, and occasionally the plugin.

This takes about 5 minutes.

Thanks for continuing to test! I have an update (0.2. that corrects a small logic issue with the Line-In. It needed to be smartened up to know when a Zone does not have a Line-In or can't be queried for one. I also added the Polling Interval.

I'm going to spend some more time on the threading issue. I'll likely have another update tomorrow. If I can get through the threading issue, I will move on to the queue functionality.

mat - if you have polling off, does the thread count still increase?

Once I am able to have two ZonePlayers running, I will figure out how to handle two units with the same name. SonosPy asks for the ZonePlayer name, not any other identifier, so that will be tricky. I'm going to re-work the Line-In action so it lists all available Line-In sources instead of prompting for a ZonePlayer. Think that is more intuitive.
