KNX

Does anyone know if there are plans, somewhere, for a Plugin that supports KNX ?

Re: KNX

We don't have any plans - but it is one of the protocols on the wish list so maybe someone will tackle it. I'm hoping one of our European customers will tackle one of the more European friendly standards (I think KNX falls in this category).

Hint, hint... :)

Re: KNX

Wish I had the knowledge :)

KNX is not friendly, in my eyes, because of BUS dependence, but it's extremely reliable. And there's tons of products out there.

I'll join you on that hint, hint... :P

Re: KNX

Hi Jay,

There is a very handy interface for KNX. You can see it here.

http://www.weinzierl.de/en/products/771.html

The 772 handles more devices.

My guess is add a python developer and connectivity to the interfaces API and that's the KNX plugin done.

If I was commissioning a python developer to do this what skill set would they need to have.

Re: KNX

Nothing special really - the Indigo side of the plugin is pretty straight-forward python, though an understanding of how Indigo works would be quite useful I suspect. The comm stuff to talk to the interface would be the more time consuming part to develop.

Re: KNX

Hi
I found this :
http://www.auto.tuwien.ac.at/~mkoegler/index.php/eibd
It's a command-line tool for eib/Knx bus.
and this is a tutorial to install it on osx system using macports

https://uwe-arzt.de/20090423.html

all that remains is writing a python plugin or use tcp out plugin to communicate with the daemon (eibd) .
But for the statut request I do not know how to do it
I'm not programmer if someone could write a plugin to support eib/Knx That will be amazing .
