FINGscan checking internet status

You need fingscan v 2022.40.97 or greater

0. open terminal
1. ping google.com and note the ip number
2. ping gmail.com and note the ip number
3. ping yahoo.com and note the ip number
4. create a fingscan device named FING-google
- select use only ping
- enter the above ip number and a fake but valid mac number (eg 11.22.33.44.55.12)
- set For ping only seconds up - down to 60 secs ( shorter numbers will be faster detecting a down state, but increases false positives, you can play with the numbers to test the best value for you)
- set For ping only seconds down - expired to 60 secs
- save,

repeat for the other 2 ip numbers, use different, unique MAC numbers!!

5. setup FING event eg # 20 and add the 3 above created devices as members, also here you can change the times, but they are not regular wait times but time windows in which a trigger can not RE-trigger

Then
if internetdown triggers if all 3 devices are down/ away
if internet up triggers if number of up/home devices goes from 0 to 1

Using 2 or more internet web sites gives you a better stability agains a single web site going down to indicate your internet connection is up/down

you can also use this to detect eg weather.com up/down or cnn.com up/down or your local service provide or newspaper up/down etc
