Re: IRTRans Question

I got a question about the IRTrans. How do you connect it all together ?

I mean IRTrans Ethernet is connected to any point you might have or it has to be connected to a mac? After that do you need only one External IR LED 1-way with 3,5mm Phone plug to controll as many devices as you'd like ? Can you have one IR Trans and control 2 or more device locations (I mean TV+DVD+REceiver on the main room as well as TV+DVD on the bedroom ?

I know this are a lot of questions, if anyone can answer i'd be glad...!!!

At the risk of going off-topic: the IRTrans ethernet version has to be connected to the ethernet network. That means you can use it anywhere you want, as long as there is a network cable to connect it to.
One IRTrans can control as many devices that er visibly in sight of the IRTrans. I control my TV, DVD, VCR, Tuner and SLIMP3 with 1 IRTrans.
It's possible to add more than 1 IRTrans to your Mac/Network, so controling IR devices at different locations in the house is easy.

Itunes

How do you guys get Itunes control. I haven't been able to. If anyone has step by step instructions on controlling Itunes I'd appreciate it.

Here's my first go at it. This layout is close to scale. I used OmniGraffle Professional.app, since it has the ability to scale sizes. I have another page that just lists all device status along with toggle buttons for each one and various other variable values.

Once I get my cameras installed, i plan to create a page for each camera location with the image.

Here's a silly question that's escaping me. Where do you put your custom images to get them to show up as "Static image/capiton"?

You can put them here:

HardDisk:Library:Application Support:Perceptive Automation:Indigo 2:IndigoWebServer:images:controls:static

make sure you are putting them on the server and not on the local computer, if you are remotely controlling Indigo.

Indigo only accepts .png files.
So you'll have to convert your pics to this format.

That explains it. It doesn't seem EvoCam can save images in png, only jpg.

If you have Mac OS X 10.4, you can do this very easily. Automator comes with an action to convert image types. Save your camera files in one folder, and create an Automator action to:
*. Copy the files to the Indigo directory.
*. Convert the file format to PNG.

If I recall, it's easy to save this Automator action as a plug-in for a folder action that you can apply to the folder where your camera images are stored.

I've been able to get the automator action working (my first go with automator). Is there a way to force Indigo to refresh the page when the image is replaced?

Great! I only knew this should work in theory...I had never tried it. Can you post back how you saved the workflow and attached it to the folder? I'm interested in whether your first action took input from the Finder, or whether you put a default search for all files in that folder as the first step.

I saved the automator action as a app. Then I saved it as a plugin in which I was given the option of which folder to attach it to (all that really did was generate a applescript to run the app).
