[SOLVED] Touch timing out

I am running indigo 6.01 with remote access on 1176. I have the port forwarded

When I try to connect externally using touch on an iPad ios7.1. I get a timeout

I can access via prism no problem

Any hints on trouble shooting?

Indigo Touch communicates with Indigo via the Indigo Web server which defaults to port 8176, not 1176. Let me know if that doesn't help.

OK so I forwarded 8176 to the server and I am getting connection to indigo server failed

What does the server address you are entering look like (verbatim but with obscured IP numbers) ?

i am using the server name k*****k.com

That is an Apache server though. Indigo Touch has to connect to the Indigo Web Server. I tried the address you entered with :8176 as well, and that didn't work. Are you sure you forwarded port 8176? The other possibility is that the Indigo Web Server is on a different port. Check the Start Local Server dialog (via the Indigo 6->Start Local Server menu item) to see what the Web (HTTP) port number is.

I was confused by the two options

I assume the clinet access is if I can from a desktop then?

Port 1176 is for the Mac GUI client.
Port 8176 is for Web/Browser clients and Indigo Touch.

Note prism only supports the latter (port 8176 traffic).

I got confused with the different uses of "server" I come from a true client/server and am slowly and poorly adapting to all the additional web servers the applications are placing on my systems
