Fibaro Motion Sensor

Fibaro have announced a new motion sensor. Although to call it just a motion sensor does not do it justice judging by the presentation on the website.
Not only do Fibaro make excellent products, they also know how to present them well.

UK price is £52.00, but no word on availability.

No frigg'n joke. I'm really unsure I'd want that in my house...

Re: Fibaro Motion Sensor

It’s a shame really.. it is such a brilliant concept from a company that has created a lot of really fantastic devices (even their controller is awesome.. not as awesome as Indigo of course)… but i think it’d freak out anyone that ever visits.. if it was a lot more subtle i’ve had been interested in them for a few rooms

Re: Fibaro Motion Sensor

I think I would have to see one in person to see how creepy it is. Also I glanced at the manual and they have parameters to disable the LED signaling on motion as well as a parameter to set the LED level, so it looks like it will be pretty adjustable.

Re: Fibaro Motion Sensor

OTOH, would be a cool device to stick out on the porch at Halloween and trigger some sort of scary display for trick-or-treaters... :-)

Re: Fibaro Motion Sensor

The Eye is actually quite a bit less noticeable than the marketing images suggest :)

Best regards,

Mark

Re: Fibaro Motion Sensor

You can turn off the lights so it doesn't look like a cat eye, It become a very small discrete PIR/Temp sensor, I find them great around my house.

Re: Fibaro Motion Sensor

These look good, but, do they report temps in Fahrenheit? I know other Fibaro devices like the FGK-101 only report in Celcius, even when they are the US version.
Fibaro should allow all their devices to be configurable by the user. The Aeon Labs Multi Sensor, which is similar to this Fibaro Multi Sensor, allows the user to define
whether to display in Fahrenheit or Celcius.

Re: Fibaro Motion Sensor

Thomas, I just happened to come across this unanswered question when looking for something else, thought I would chime in :). I love the Fibraro's but the Celsius thing sort of sucks, so I just wrote a quick script that triggers when any of my Fibraro's update, it just keeps a variable set with the F value of the temperature that I then use on my control pages (or just look at in the variable list if I really want to know):

Code: Select all
GR = indigo.devices[1930237564]
GRTempC = GR.sensorValue
GRTempF = ((GRTempC * 9) / 5) + 32
indigo.variable.updateValue("GreatroomTemperature", str(GRTempF))
