Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available
I ran iHealth twice and got the following. I switched outlets (same room) and got back after ten iterations the following. Yet my system seems to run very smoothly and seldom if ever does not perform as expected. My outlets are limited especially if I don't run an extension to the 2413U. Other than moving the MacMini (which would be difficult to due to to configuration of Den/T.V. etc, are there filters recommended? My MacMini and 2413U are near a UPS and Large Flat Screen TV, as are most systems I would guess.
Why would my reported success rate be so low yet have no perceived problems with my system?

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available
I did want to add a note. Throughout my home I have several UPS's, 5 to be exact. Living in Alaska we have many power failures and spikes/brownouts..etc so I take the extra effort to project electronics to include Mac, AirPort/Cable Modem, Pellet Stove, On Demand Water Heater, oil stove in side building...etc. I also have many CFL and LED lights so as to save on power. As for the line noise, would it be suggested that I had a FilterLinc at each UPS or is this overkill? Perhaps just the UPS at/near the MacMini and TV?

Hmm I don't think the tool is working at all. Did you quit Indigo before running it? Do you have any other USB<->serial adapters connected to the system? I wonder if it is trying to talk to the wrong interface.

I did quit the service but likely didn't not quit out of the application (shut down). I will do that and try again when home. Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available
the two interfaces that come up in the select interface dialogue are the keyspan adapters, neither is the correct one, the PLM2412... how can i specify the correct interface. the report obviously doesn't get any pings on the wrong interface..
thanks.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available
I believe that menu is for the serial port used by the interface, not the model. So select whatever serial port name you have chosen in the Prefs dialog in Indigo for your 2412.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available
correct, i should have said ports not interfaces, but neither is the port for the interface, the dialogue only list my two keyspans. i have a total of, maybe 5 or 6 usb interfaces connected, two are keyspans, two are drives, one is the 2412, and a couple others i can't think of... but only the keyspans show up in the dialogue.
not sure how to specify. perhaps taking the 2412 offline before i run ihealth will free it..?

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available
Definitely do shutdown Indigo Server first if you haven't done that. But I'm not sure that will show it...

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available
same deal even with indigo stopped. hmm. perhaps i could restart with indigo shutdown, but... that's a pain. yes, still only the two keyspans showing up in the dialogue...

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available
Just to make sure, you are running iHealth from the same Mac as Indigo Server (which has the 2412 physically connected to it)?
And what serial port name is shown in the prefs dialog of Indigo? I'm wondering if there is something about its name that is causing it to be filtered out for some reason.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available
here's my log, obviously ind server is trying to start while ihealth has the usb pipe, right? perhaps there is an applescript running that is starting indigo up after i quit it... that's the problem w ihealth as well i suppose, it starts to ping and then the interface gets taken back by indigo.. sound right? - Code: Select all

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available
huh, my reply w the ihealth report showing all dashes (no pings returned) didn't post. something odd about how phpBB works that if you click 'post reply' but the system has timed your login out, it takes you to the compose reply page but when you hit submit it asks for your login and when you do it loses your reply and takes you to the main page.. it looked like it posted, but i guess not.
anyway... you get what's going on i'm sure. does my last hypothesis sound correct? and if so, what should i do, i guess restart with no ascripts running.... maybe have to kill processes manually.
any chance ihealth could get a bit savvier here, or is this just how it has to be, fighting over the usb? probably... i'll keep trying.
thanks matt.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available
You need to quit Indigo server completely. If something is re-launching the Indigo application you need to figure out why and disable that.
Sorry the script can be a little finicky to run. In the longer term I intend to rewrite this as a plugin if possible so we won't have these challenges.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available
Yeah, Jay brought up to me (and you mentioned above in one of your original posts) the suggestion of just taking the interface offline (via the Interface menu). That might work better than stopping Indigo Server. It'll keep Indigo from communicating with the 2412 and it won't matter if you have AppleScripts trying to talk to Indigo Server as long as those scripts don't try to take the interface online.
