Indigo 1.8.0 beta (with INSTEON support!!!) posted

Indigo 1.8.0 public beta is now available. This version adds INSTEON support, improves the Event Log window, improves USB communication reliability, and fixes several bugs. Indigo 1.8 will be a free upgrade for all existing Indigo customers.

  http://www.perceptiveautomation.com/indigo/download.html

!!! Important !!! You must install the driver package included in the download even if you have previously run the installer. A reboot is required after running the installer.

INSTEON support includes support for the SwitchLinc V2, LampLinc V2, ApplianceLinc V2, ControLinc V2, and KeypadLinc V2. Adding these devices to Indigo for control and monitoring is fast and simple using Indigo's exclusive Smart Link Syncing. In addition to turning devices on/off and setting their brightness, you can create Trigger Actions from INSTEON commands On, Off, Double On, Double Off, Brighten, Dim, All On, and All Off. Indigo also shows the state of all INSTEON devices as they change, even if the change is because of a command from another device (ex: a LampLinc turned on from a ControLinc will immediately show as on within Indigo).

Indigo 1.8 supports the new PowerLinc V2 (firmware 2.12 or higher required). Indigo <strong>does not</strong> support uploading to the PowerLinc V2, although upload support does still work to the older PowerLinc Controller (1132CU). We do not anticipate having upload support to the new PowerLinc V2 for several months, likely not until Indigo 2.0 or 2.5.

If you are replacing an existing PowerLinc (1132U/CU) with the PowerLinc V2, then choose the Interface->Disconnect menu item, swap in the PowerLinc V2, and choose the Interface->Connect menu item.

About Smart Link Syncing

If, after the device is initially defined, a remote device has any additional controller links added (ex: LampLinc is controlled by a KeypadLinc), then that device (LampLinc in this case) should have its links re-synced. This option is available from the Device dialog via the Re-Sync Links... button. This will ensure Indigo has an accurate representation of the device's internal links, allowing it to correctly show the state changes.

If a PowerLinc V2 is ever replaced, then you must re-sync all of your devices. This will ensure that all devices have their internal links updated to reflect the new PowerLinc V2's INSTEON address.

Transition to INSTEON

FunForGeeks.com is now selling Indigo-tested PowerLinc V2s, Indigo INSTEON packages (starter and platinum), and for customers that already have Indigo, an INSTEON transition kit.

Not Supported in 1.8.0:
  • Indigo does not support uploading to the PowerLinc V2.
  • Indigo does not support using generic X10 dim/brighten commands via the PowerLinc V2.
  • Indigo does not support using extended dim commands via the PowerLinc V2.
  •   -- note preset dim commands do send and receive correctly --
Changes in 1.8.0:
  • Added INSTEON support.
  • Added basic support for new PowerLinc V2 (2414U). No upload capability yet.
  • Added horizontal scroll bar and text coloring to Event Log window.
  • Modified interface logic so that device states (on/off/brightness) are not updated until that command has been sent (put on to the power line).
  • Improved USB communication reliability (added new dedicated thread for USB communication)
  • Changed Trigger Action, Time/Date Action, and Action Group event logging to display sequentially in log.
  • Fixed bug that prevented exiting the preferences dialog when using the CM15 in some cases.
  • Fixed bug that caused incorrect execution of newly created Time/Date or Trigger Actions in some cases when the Execute Action Group button is pressed.
  • Fixed bug that caused some AppleScripts to fail to execute from within an Action Group.
  • Fixed incompatibility with some CM15s (maybe firmware version 2 or above) that causes some RF commands to not decode correctly.

Beta 8 of Indigo 1.8.0 is now available:

  http://www.perceptiveautomation.com/indigo/download.html

In addition to bug fixes and a couple of small features, this new version will update the internal application (called SALad) running inside the PowerLinc V2. Because of this, when you first launch or connect to the interface, you will see a Please Wait... dialog. It takes about 1 minute to upload, but it will only need to happen one time (unless it changes in a future build/beta).

Let me know if the upload process works. When it completes the LED on the PowerLinc V2 should be glowing steady (except when X10 / INSTEON commands are on the power line). If it is blinking slowly, then it failed in some manner. Note this uploading does *not* mean that Indigo supports offline operation with the PowerLinc V2 yet. That functionality will not be support until Indigo 2.0 or 2.5.

Regards,
Matt
