Indigo Touch no longer connects after installing 4.0.0

I've been very happily using Indigo Touch with zero problems for the last two beta versions of 4.0.0. I just installed the non-beta 4.0.0 release. It works perfectly on all my Macs, BUT Indigo Touch no longer connects to the server -- Message at the bottom of the screen, "Unable to connect to local Indigo Server". Re-booting the iPhone makes no difference. (And of course, this has nothing to do with wifi -- I'm getting full bars, and everything else works fine.)

Am I the only person having the problem? Ideas?

Re: Indigo Touch no longer connects after installing 4.0.0

When you started the official (non-beta) version of 4.0, did you get 2 prompts from the OS about allowing Indigo to accept network connections? Those have to be accepted so that the firewall under OS X is configured to allow the connection. You can tell by checking the System Preferences->Security->Firewall panel. You need to have "Set access for specific services and applications" checked, and in the list should be BOTH Python.app and IndigoServer.app.

Nope, I must have missed the prompts. So, my SysPref->Security->Firewall was still set to "allow all" and neither Python.app nor IndigoServer.app were listed when I changed this to allow specific devices.

So, I did a re-install. This time I got the prompts (or at least I didn't miss them ;-), and then everything was set as you described it should be in Sys Prefs.

BUT -- still getting the same message in Indigo Touch ("Unable to connect to local Indigo Server). Re-booting the iPhone no help.

And I'm using the most recent versions of everything.

Thanks, Matt.

dumb q, but is the ip correct on the itouch app?

if using prism or the like, try just a straight connect.

A couple more things:

We've had a recent user who installed anti-virus software which had its own firewall: done that recently?

What happens when you try to connect to the web server via Safari? Try both going directly to the ip:port AND via bonjour.

As anode suggests, if you have a prism account, try manually connecting to it.

Last thing: reboot the Mac, restart the server, and copy/paste the event log messages here.

No anti-virus software at all.

Connecting to Indigo web server via Safari works perfectly.

I've rebooted the Mac several times.

I do not have a Plath account.

Still unable to connect to server with Indigo Touch.

Re: Indigo Touch no longer connects after installing 4.0.0

Inside Indigo Touch, try the following:

1) Choose Settings.

2) Press Edit and delete all of the connections (except Demo Server which isn't delete-able).

3) Quit Indigo Touch.

4) Relaunch.

5) What does the Settings panel show? Did "My House 1" re-appear?

6) If it did, select it -- does it work?

One other thing, you said:

Connecting to Indigo web server via Safari works perfectly.

From the Log it looks like you just connected from the same Mac Indigo is running on. Can you try connecting from a Browser on another computer? Also try connecting from iPhone's Safari. You'll have to look up the determine the IP address of your Mac. See this page from the manual for the steps (search on "Indigo Server IP"). The UI for that System Preferences panel is a bit different in OS X 10.5, but the same basic steps work.

Much easier solution: I figured that the connect data on the InidigoTouch app might have become corrupted after the first install of 4.0.0 when I missed responding to the alerts, and Indigo Touch might not have the logic to re-set itself after this happened. So, I thought that deleting and re-installing Indigo Touch might solve that if that was the problem. I was correct: it worked perfectly, and Indiigo Touch now connects and works just fine.

So, that's the solution if anyone else misses the alerts when installing 4.0.0.

Thanks as always for the prompt and helpful replies.

The same would be accomplished by deleting the connection entry, leaving the settings dialog, reopening the settings dialog, and reselecting the bonjour entry. No reinstall needed... ;)
