Creating Action Groups

Use Action Groups to create named groups of ordered Actions. Action Groups are a great way to create reusable lighting scenes and define complex events. For example, you could create an "Intruder Alarm" Action Group that turns on all the lights in the house, flashes the outside lights, and sends an email to both your cell phone and office.

Creating an Action Group

  1. Select Action Group List from the View menu.
  2. Press the New... button at the top of the main window.
  3. Name the group, for example "going to bed."
  4. Optionally give the group a Description.
  5. See the creating actions section for details on all of the action's settings, and information on how to add additional actions to the Action Group.

Executing an Action Group Remotely via Indigo Touch or a Web Browser

Indigo includes a built-in Web server that allows remote execution of your Action Groups from Indigo Touch or any modern Web browser (Safari, Firefox, Opera). Follow the instructions in the starting Indigo Server section to make sure that the following options are enabled: Start and connect to Indigo Server, Allow remote access, and Enable iPhone, iPod touch, and remote Web browser access.

You can then access the Action Groups from the browser by choosing the Go->Browser Basic Pages menu item. You can also create custom graphical Control Pages for executing your Action Groups. For information on how to access the Indigo Web server remotely from other computers on your home network see the remote Indigo access section.

To make an Action Group available on Indigo Touch or your web browser, select the Display in remote UI checkbox. Tip: if the Action Group is in a folder, that folder must also be marked for Remote Display.
