Appliance Module already built in to the socket!
This two receptacle wall socket has the top outlet wired as a 15 amp X10 controllable appliance device. Just plug your lamp or small appliance into the socket and then it is controllable via an X10 home automation program like Indigo 1.8 or Indigo 2.0
or perhaps via the X10 remote transmitters you have set up in your house.
The X10 socket responds to ON/OFF and ALL UNITS OFF. It does not respond to ALL LIGHTS ON or DIM/BRIGHT commands. Local manual override is possible. With manual override, when the receptacle is off, turn the attached appliance/light off then back on. The receptacle senses the OFF and ON cycle and forces the receptacle on and in X10 controllable mode. The X10 house code is set by two tiny dial wheels on the face of the plate.
The bottom socket is a normal always on 15 amp wall socket and is not X10 controllable.
